Pathetic.
That's what really happens to me, my stamina sucks but my timing has increased by so much. It's weird.

i think some of it has to do with the interface. i played liquid moon on an arcade machine and did terrible on it but i've done so much better on harder songs on DDR. i've scared people just by saying that ITG has harder songs lol

I had to take a month off for surgury and coming back I couldn't pass Pandemonium which was hardly a challenge at all pre-surgury.

I don't know why but I seem to always do about 2-3% less then my own highscores that I set about 1-2 months ago.

It's weird but I'm pretty sure I've improved. I just don't understand why I can't beat my own scores

The opposite has happened to me I played a lot of DDR (since that was the only thing in town) But when me and my friends found out that there was an ITG machine only 20 min. away we went to go play that and i did amazingly good. Well I moved to Texas and there are no ITG machines in the area so I moved on to DDR since thats all we have and well I suck at it now

I played tons of ITG for a while, was able to pass 12s with decent ratings. Then i got into EQ2 and my skills went downhill and i had trouble with even 9s. Since i quit that game, i've gotten back into ITG after a bunch of DDR and i have to say, my scores were sucking for a good 4 months solid but now i'm close to what i used to be.

So yeah, i can see what you're coming from there. Another thing to do with it is probably the difference in the timing windows like it was said before, those screwed me up when i finally came back to ITG after ITG PC came out, because i moved to a place with no ITG machine within a reasonable walk or drive. I played ITG2 a lot earlier this year and I was decent (had passed all expert songs / no bar), but I felt that my skills were at a stopping point at the time, so I quit playing ITG2 all together.

Then I went back to DDREx and I've gotten 40 AAA's since then DDR became too easy for me (able to SDG just about everything), so I decided to go back to ITG2 again.

I've been playing for just one month and I've beaten every single record I ever made, plus I keep beating my scores and beating them again (Now ranked 121 on Groovestats). Everytime I play I get better and better

My timing just gets better and better on ITG2 (DDR, my timing isn't as good, but I can still pull out new AAA's every once in a while). I think it's a mental thing really.

My stamina depends on my mentality at the time, conservation of energy and understanding of stepcharts (Songs like Summer ~Speedy Mix~ are a breeze once you understand the chart well.)

Conclusion I've come up with (for myself and others) is if you can't do it, then you aren't pushing yourself hard enough or you don't want it bad enough. Playing for a month straight should produce great results for anyone as long as they are pushing forward and breaking their limits over and over. That's what I've been doing for the 6 and 1/2 years I've been playing. The times when I felt I wasn't getting any better, when I felt like there was a mountain that I couldn't climb, I asked myself how bad did I want it? When you quit pushing is when you start decreasing. It really is just as much mental as it is physical.

But yeah I'm just blabbing on. Encouraging words: Focus, Never Give Up, Treat ITG2 like a woman and give her the greatest sex everytime (LMAO). Peace out Y'all.

This works the same as weightlifting...it you constantly lift everyday, the same muscles...you wont see any results and your muscle may actaully decrease. When my scores started going down in ITG I took a break for about a week (no DDR or ITG) and when I played again I was at the top of my game once more.

That is only the case once you reach a certain skill level. If you are just starting you should play as much as possible just to get the eye-foot coordination and what not. Once you reach a certain skill level you should play less often or your skill will decrease. The 'certain skill level' obviously is different for everybody.

My problem's kinda weird. I've been playing ITG consistently, Hell, I've een been leaving SM on auto play and following the steps with my feet, but no matter what, I can never seem to get any better at ITG. I'm just stuck on Hard. I can Pass VerTex^2,(Biggest achievement,) On hard, but for some reason, any 11 or 12 foot Expert just blows my mind.

If you can pass it, play Charlene Expert (11) A LOT. It helps with stream and speed and endurance. Once I got to the point where I was in essentially the same situation and I just went back to DDR and played only the MAXes and a few of the hardest 9's. That helped me and now I can do almost all the 11's and a couple 12's.

I figured out just the other day that I am horrible at ITG now. I used to be able to do all the 9's and most 10's. Now, since I have had a month off from playing this game, I can't do any 10's and I actually have a hard time with the 9's. I started to play again, but I guess I'm so out of shape from not playing it for a month that it is going to take me a long time to get back to the way I was. It really pisses me off.

I stopped playing for a few months and began playing IIDX and DDR Supernova, my timing got better but my stamina got destroyed. Before I quit I passed Pandemonium 70-80%, I tried it earlier this week and failed at the end stream with a 64%.

DDR, ITG, whatever, it's like riding a bike. Once you pass the learning phase of recognizing step patterns and internalizing the corresponding movements without having to concentrate on individual notes, the skills involved only become a question of the individual's endurance threshold. If you stop playing for a long time, then return, you may be rusty but your ability to recognize & recreate is promptly recovered. For me, during that long interval of stalling, it was a kind of break for me, to let my mind filter out the psychological impurities associated with DDR/ITG overload (i.e. tendency to perceive sequences as blurs that eventually lead to misreading of note patterns, tendency to be lazy with stepping and use a tiny area of the foot to hit a panel, etc.)

When I came back, my consistency actually improved. If you're someone who listens to music a lot (that might not even be necessary), your timing of steps as perceived by the mind shouldn't be affected one bit. If anything, only the brain-foot coordination may be off a bit, but that will oil up only after a few rounds. Likely your form will have been trimmed of the growing sloppiness last experienced with mindless playing. This includes clarity in recognition of complex rhythms.

The first time I played again on DDR I AAed Healing Vision AM, the first song I tried. My skill level isn't outstanding; I don't usually get higher than B on 10-footers (i.e. the MAXes).

same here, i got tired of ddr and haven't really played it for about 2 months now. I'm addicted to IIDX currently. When i do play ddr again though, I find myself better than before. My PA is greatly improved and grades are better.

so it is like learning how to ride a bike, once you know it, you'll never forget how to do it.
