Front page, Save your local ITG machines.
Here's some quoted text if you are too lazy to click the link: Quote:
As of my arrival to the AMOA Vegas 2007 show; I was notified that Betson Enterprises now offers a “Conversion Kit” for all “In The Groove2 Dedicated machines.” This upgrade retails for ~$4200.00 usd and converts all ITG cabinets into Dance Dance Revolution SuperNOVA.
BEWARE of these kits. Even after the death of the In The Groove series; ITG continues to live on through it’s established player communities all over the world. You won’t ever change that Konami. Is this your response to ITG players?
| I think it's RoXoR's time to make a lawsuit? Because this will END all ITG2 dedicabs if every arcade makes the choice to upgrade to DDRSN | |

Honestly, if your local ITG machine gets enough play, I don't see why you should be worried. Just get a group of friends and let your arcade owner know that you all would prefer that they not upgrade their ITG2 machine to anything else, I'm sure they would be hesitant to spend $4000+ after hearing that.
P.S. Um, no Mr. Ward, this isn't their response to the ITG community. This is them giving Arcade owners a choice, albeit an easy one to make, especially since it's SN1. They aren't forcing ever ITG2 dedicab in the country to convert to SuperNOVA so what exactly is the problem here? Everything that has happened to ITG is because of RoXoR's mistakes. Just continue to make Pump Pro, and everyone will be happy, since the only way that game's gonna die is if its sales go down the pooper.

Who determins "enough" play on ITG2?
Would it not be possible for the arcade owners to be lead into believing that SuperNova is better than ITG2 *coughbullcrapcough* as good advertising tactics are supposed to do? Remember the NAMCO crap DDR bootleg fiasco - people can be stupid.
Is it not also true that while there are numerous arcades where the owners & customers ar tight, there are more places where this is nonexistant? As a result, wouldn't it be possible that these machines get upgraded without an ear towards the customers who might want to keep ITG2?
I think in a way, this is the kettle black RE: upgrading competition machine with another competetor, only done legally this time... in retrospect that might not be calling the kettle black in SOME regard, but nevermind... too damn early.
Just because you se no concern whatsoever does not mean that an iota of legitimate concern doesn't exist.

That advisements doesn't seem like much, it just says "HEY GUYZ U CAN UPGRADE TO SN IF YOU'VE GOT ITG2 K?" I can't imagine how anyone would really want to buy upgrade just by seeing that. I dunno, maybe Konami will make phone calls or something.
If the arcade owners do it though, it's their decision, and if the ITG2 machine is making money, there's really no reason for them to upgrade. If they do, there's nothing you can do it really.
P.S. Is anyone actually surprised by this? I was surprised that these kits weren't already out there.

If Konami has IP -rights- to ITG/2, I don't think he really has a say in the matter, even if it was something that he and others worked tirelessly on. Nine-tenths of the law, yadayada, etc. and so forth...
That said, Konami could very well order the dismissal of ITG2 cabs, if they so chose to.

All of the informed people who would get pissed if this happened would simply go out to their local arcade and say "Hey, don't do it, or I'll fucking stab you."
...or something along those lines. XD
Here's my question... why SN1? With SN2 coming out so soon, why'd they blow money on developing this?

*buys SN2*
Simple, really. People can be that dumb to fall for it, so they will do that instead.

Damn. XD

It sounds to me like Konami wants those DDR machines upgraded to ITG to go back to DDR. Because otherwise, couldn't Andimiro sue Konami for the same thing Konami sued Roxor for?(Since Andimiro technically made the ITG2 hardware?) I wouldn't worry until we actually start seeing ITG2 dedicabs being transformed into DDR's.

Besides, I don't think it would be a playstation in there. It would be whatever is the main board used in a supernova cabinet, with appropriate adapters for the pad input (a joystick), screen (vga), and amplifier. Some well-fitted decals, and maybe a new little drawer to replace the usb ports with ps2 memory cards...
wait, ps2 memory cards... no there's no way. Konami cabinets can't just be big overglorified playstations? I have a hard time believing that...
Anyway we can definately expect the beautiful dedicab screen to get substancially fuzzier, lol. This is so sad.

If konami were to use one of those 20 dollar converters, yeah, the signal would look like garbage. It would also add tons of lag due to upscaling the crappy composite signal to progressive. Again, it sounds too far-fetched to actually worry about at this point, so wait until dedicabs start getting converted before you worry.

P.S. (pet peeve time) - to the quote in the first post, Kyle Ward: LEARN HOW TO USE A SEMICOLON PROPERLY.
