r21 Bg+Bn

So I'm cruising YouTube for ITG2 vids and watch a few ppl playing songs on r21. I noticed a couple have the song's custom background and banner, the ones from the song pack on the USB drive. I thought r21 settings blocked custom bg and bn. Is there some why around that or is it a hacked cabinet?

I have a few songs that will show their Bn/Bg, and I myself have been trying to get to the bottom of why and how I can get them to display. I'm told by the Arcade Op. that it's the machine just not loading it, and it occasionally will load them, which makes a bit of sense because the machine will choke on songs once you have between 40-50 songs on a USB drive on occasion. What doesn't make much sense to me is that these files recognize the banner and background in ITG2 for the PC, and stepmania. It does say though that the arcade isn't supposed to load them...

Regardless, every file I have is .sm with .ogg music (of course), and all of the image files are .png and refered to in the exact same way in the .sm file.

If the BG/banner display, it's because the system has attempted to read the data before the USB drive was unmounted. The USB drive is kept unmounted unless absolutely necessary, because, if it crashes while mounted and StepMania/ITG is doing something with it, Bad Things(tm) could happen.

That has happened to me once. It loaded the pictures, and some guy was like "how did you do that?", and I had no clue what to tell him. Next time I played it did not show, in fact it never happened again. This was a while ago, during the beatmania GOLD test.
