At the end of the credits, there is tribute being paid to an individual who's name I have forgotten, regrettably.

How was he involved with the game, and what happened to the poor fellow?

Steve Blattspieler was a very well known sales executive for Capcom and Andamiro. In addition to help launching Foosball in the 70's, he helped bring Street Fighter to its many platforms and launched the famous Andamiro game Pump It Up. He passed away last year after a long battle with Pancreatic Cancer
