Default Starting to play again.

I used to play all the time from 2003~2007, starting with DDR Konamix (PS1). I started to get good around 2005~2007 when my local arcade swapped out DDR Extreme with ITG. By the time they upgraded to ITG2 I was able to consistently play 10/11s. I quit from late 07~09 (a month ago).

I'm about 5'5 and 220 pounds currently. I still retain most of my speed, but I have absolutely no stamina. It takes worlds more effort to move myself about due to the massively increased weight compared to when I weighed 140~170 pounds.

I'm interested in how I should approach attempting to whip myself back into shape using ddr/itg. I don't currently have a working home set-up, so I can only attend arcades currently. Last month or so, whenever I've played, I've hardly been able to complete two full songs, mostly due to my stubborness of not willing to play anything under an 8-footer, mostly due to random air hurting like a bitch compared to air in a stream, and my reaction time being bad when given random, unlinked steps.

I'm looking for advice on how I should pace myself. I'm interested in three things:

1. Losing weight
2. Increasing stamina
3. Increasing FA

Just a little hint, how to get back some of lost stamina and lose some weigh.

Water. Drink a LOT of water. Do not drink any things like Coca-Cola, Pepsi, 7Up or any other sweetened drinks. In just one month of not drinking that shit I lost about 10kg (~22 lbs). By a lot I mean like 5-6 litres / day.

Try to eat a little less. It won't hurt if you will throw away that piece of pizza or last two forks of spaghetti, really.

If you are playing standard songs - do not use bar. You will burn fat faster this way. Less fat = better stamina.

Do you do other exercises besides ITG? If so, on the days you don't play, jog around your nearest park. Get some cardio back. Your accuracy will come naturally with comfort, and comfort will come with increased stamina. It might help to drink water instead of soda for a while. If you want, eat hearty meals before you play, as you'll have something to burn. Stretch out.

Also, warm-up to some hard 10's that have little stream, such as Max Forever, as that'll get your stamina pumping for later songs.

For people without a job (or with a job and bills to pay) $300 is quite a bit.

Why does no one ever mention the Afterburner? Free shipping and it's a pretty solid metal platform.
