Stuck on expert 9's

I've found myself stuck on expert 9's with what seems like absolutely no progression in skill. I was wondering if anyone has any recomendations on songs that will help me break this barrier. I'm particulary having trouble with jumps requireing hands and some more of the complex streams.

Ugh, basically all anyone is going to tell you is to practice.

Can you pass all of the Expert 9's consistantly? If not, work on passing the ones that you can't consistantly pass. For streams/crossovers practice On a Day Like Today, and for hands, practice ROMeo & Juli8 and Dawn.

Once you can pass those without a hassle, songs like D-Code and Liquid Moon will be cake for you.

Fleadh Uncut and Temple of Boom are good for streams as well as endurance.

Tribal Style is pretty good if you are good at songs similar to So Deep on DDR, and isnt too challenging endurance-wise. It's got some complex steps, and keeps a good tempo.

Queen of light is probably one of the best for hands, as it has quite a few hands in it, but the mines make it a little bit more challenging.

You could play some easier songs (on easy and medium) with added hands (called "twister" in the mod selection screen I believe), which keep the steps at an easier pace but good for hands still.

And what DarkCore said, go back to 9's with hands and complex streams and practice on them more, as well.

Here is a tip that has improved my itg'ing a lot. Playing stepmania using your index fingers. Set it up so 2,4,6, and 8 on the numpad are the arrows, and only use your two index fingers. TRY NOT TO 'DOUBLE STEP' with your fingers. This really helps with the reading aspect. Endurance wise is obvious... practice.

Alright, thanks. I took down some notes for my next trip to the arcdade and am just gonna start playing stepmania like 1 hour+ a day to try to get my stamina up because that seems to be the root of my problem with streams.

You should try that for a while. Because i heard it really dosent work on alot of ppl. Thats what i do sometimes..if i play stepmania and i can pass the song on keyboard, then i can pass it on pad. thats how i know if i can pass songs or not.

Yeah, I found I was approaching some of those hands (In Dawn) wrong for awhile, as bending the way I did them actually HURT. I eventually found it was easiest to just stay in one position and use whatever limb happened to be on that arrow as opposed to trying to jump-hand-hand-hand-jump-hand-hand-hand those sections.

The hands in Dawn are fairly easy to me, first it's feet on up and down, then hands side to side, then it goes bottom left feet, hands right corner, then jump with your feet forwards and use 1 hand to get those hands in the back corner, then quickly jump up and get the greens...

Despite having a lot less actual hands overall, I found dawn to be harder to combo through because i'm really not flexible. I remember accidentally landing on my ass really hard a couple times playing Dawn.

Queen of Light was nowhere near as difficult for me to do, just because they aren't mostly weird ones like holding up+right and hitting the two other panels behind me.

Just keep working at passing the 10s, maybe even fire up the DDR 10s to help you gain the stamina you need. your wall will eventually break down for you if you keep at it =p

I find that if you want a song that is a fairly easy progretion from 9 to 10, i suggest Holy Guacamole. I tried this song just for fun when I was stuck on 9's ( i still sort of am, can do some 10's) and i got a 67% then i tried it a few more times during different days and brought that score up to a 89% ( I rarly get higher then 90%) then i just tried to continue on with 10's and improved slowly.

I agree with Idea. Holy Guacamole is an excellent shot for an Expert 10. It's mainly made of "mines on one column" passages and short green rushes. The rest of the arrows follow the melody line to the letter, quite like So Deep Heavy on DDR.

Uhh, i was in your position about a month and a half ago. Here are some good songs to help you make the jump.

(if you have/play ITG2) - D-Code...this is BY FAR the easiest 10, re-rated a 9 in Mdawgs ITG2PC

Itg - My Favorite Game...It's got a couple hard parts, and the ending can be killer, but its a mainly stamina driven song.

Itg - Hand of Time...This was my first 10, only hard part is 3 streams that if you just like learn the basics of you can get through.

Itg - Queen of Light...Hands make this song EVIL but it has the least steps overall.

Itg2 - Tribal Style...It's not a "hard 10" but its not easy either, just has weird patterns.

Itg - VerTex(H)...This was my second 10, the end is the only true hard part, couple of awkward mine dodges as well.

Itg - Anubis...Not the easiest, but some people pass it as their first 10.

Those are some good starters, I bet you can pass at least one if you try hard enough =)
