It only depends if it uses special proprietary drivers/software.

If you have to manually install special drivers into EVERY new computer you plug it into, chances are it's proprietary and won't work with ITG2.
I doubt many would use proprietary software because it's a pain in the ass and would lower the sales.

I have like 6 different drives that are supposed to be supported on a machine that allows usb custom songs, but nothing every time.

Have you seen anyone else use custom songs on your particular machine?
It might just be a bad USB HUB on the machine...

I have used custom songs many times on the machine at Howie's Game Shack, and it has never had any problems for me.

Sometimes, the arcade hosts turn off the ability to play custom songs from USB drives.

They may have turned off the USB drive. Or, if you are getting "noname" as your username, you have to sometimes turn the machine off then on. However that usually only happens on hacked machines it seems then plain old dedicabs.

also make sure your machine is R21! You also have to make sure if you are playing patched songs, the machine is NOT R23, or it wont load the songs.

I have a 512mb DaneElec usb that works on my machine

Anything by SONY works, I guess.

JUST DON'T USE A CRUZER!!!
Cruzer cards often mess with other's cards when in the same port, and i'm a victim to that

I had to get my LastGood data to get my stats back.
