Question USB Help for ITG arcade version

Hey im sorry if theres been another post about this somewhere else, ive been looking for days. But does anyone know how to setup a USB drive to load songs on the arcade machine? I put a few songs on my new pen drive and brought it in, but the songs wouldnt show up. Someone said something about a save file or something, and I have to set up and name the folders a certain way. Can someone post a tutorial or link one on how to set up a pen drive? Thanxors

Go into your pen drive's root directory. Make a folder titled In The Groove 2. Make a folder inside that folder titled Songs. Place all your simfile folders in the songs folder. All music must be .ogg format and all charts must be .sm

Use audacity to convert mp3's into oggs. Also you can use Audacity to amplify the volume.

The thing is if you played In The Groove 2 before r21, your pen drive would already have an In The Groove 2 folder. But if you haven't been saving your scores you can always make an In The Groove 2 folder yourself.

oh, and just to point out, it may take a few tries before your machine wont give you 'NoName'. NoName is this thing when the machine kinda refuses to do good things for you, and wont read sims, take scores, etc. if you get it, restart the machine and youll be fine. do that a few times until it reads your card fine.

BUT make sure you remove your card before resetting the machine, or else I may be lost!

thats absolutely true.

also, what i said should really only be used if you go to an arcade when noone else is really playing on the itg machine, or you casually restarting it time and time again is a bad thing.

but if it gives you a noname, just restart the machine.

It's not really going to help if he doesn't have a name set...

Make sure you have a DisplayName set in In The Groove 2/Editable.ini or else it will always give you NoName (what with not having a name and all).

Yea I got the folders and everything set up...it turns out you can't use anything higher than a 512mb pen drive (mine was 2g), so i went out and got a new one, but now it wont recognize the songs ive downloaded. I put them in "In The Groove 2\Songs" They were all converted to .ogg and they had the correct charts as well....i just downloaded an edit that im gonna try(Im goin up to the arcade to play now) Ill let you guys know how i make out. Thanks a bunch for the help

I have a 1 GB SanDisk Cruzer Micro that has always worked flawlessly with data, loading songs, everything. Before that, I had a Cruzer Mini that worked just as well. Try getting brand-name drives instead of generic ones - SanDisks are generally the most reliable, especially with ITG2.

Yea i guess you can use bigger ones on a dedicab, but the one i play on is just a converted ddr 8th mix cab....or one of the ddrs. But they only allow up to 512mb drives for some retarded reason.

But I got my songs working now, i guess i just put them in the wrong folder. And i forgot to convert a bunch of them, but they should be all set now. Thanks everyone...and audacity roxorz my soxorz. peace

Great that you discovered Audacity!

Protip: Audacity can amplify songs cheating the operator's volume setting.

Go to StepMania: Free dance game and songs - play with dance pads - not affiliated with Dance Dance Revolution. This website provides visual aid. Thus, being more effecient. It should be an easy step-by-step process.
