But I think that the reason of the triumph of Dance Dance Revolution and Pump It Up, is the simply thing that they offered to the users something new (in DDR case where the innovation of a new dance game, in PIU where a dance game whith 5 dance panels and music to all kinds). But Into the groove didn`t offer anithing new to us. Lets remember that this game where created in the USA, and because of that this game only includes American classic songs so.... why didn`t they include a little more variety of music?, a little bit of house, tecno, acid or electronic music could make wonders with this game don`t you think?
Well this is my opinion Iabout this game, please don`t get mad and tel me what do you think!

Name 5 songs on there that are classics, or every one of us knew before it came out.
Now, add to that the fact that it did add mines and hands, and in the second one, Rolls. What other game has that?
It was a new concept, and a new game, and it would still be getting made had konami decided that they had to have the american monopoly on dance games.
I'll shut up now. | |

Not only that, the game really semmed on sync with the arrows!
Not to mention the machines are cheaper then a DDR machine in the U.S. and were extremely easy to come by and upgrade.
The games also had had a flash drive. We could play our custom steps, save data, and play custom songs.
add all this to SPORK!s and you got yourself one of the greatest releases in music game history.

Seriously, there is a reason why the Japanese don't play DDR anymore. Its just so damn old and it was over with Extreme. Thats why the series hasn't changed a thing for years. It was supposed to finished. For some unknown reason, we got bastardized party game versions, and it caught on. Konami kept churning them out and just tried to monopolize their own little dance market.
I can't see why people even care anymore. I'm completely serious. WHY do people care about these new DDR games? Is everyone just blinded by fanboyism? The games are horrible. Half the people on these boards make better stepfiles.

However, I agree, all the new US mixes...are horrible.

However, I agree, all the new US mixes...are horrible. | To be honest, when I actually cared about dance games years ago... I had more fun playing stepmania on my pad with these user's songs, than I ever did with DDR. ( A bunch of Japanese fanpacks didn't hurt either) Yes, many are absolute shit, but there are good ones all over.
There isn't a DDR machine for at least an hour or two drive where I live, and when a bunch of us finally decided to take a roadtrip, we left in about half an hour. I still stand by my view that TechnoMotion looks a hell of a lot better, and plays better than DDR. TM for freestyle, ITG for challenge. Pump is cool for both. Quote: |

2. Tell me if there are hands, mines, or rolls in DDR.
3. R21
Now, can a DDR machine upload Quasar on a USB flash drive? No. Oh and I think DDR stepcharts are autogenerated (Who came up with Curus Heavy Doubles?)

The honest truth is that we adjust our tastes in order to play the avaliable dance games in the arcades or at home. The only exception being Stepmania with Bemanistyle downloads.
Seriously. Did any of us listen to Euro pop before DDR? Korean rap before PIU? How many of us knew who Kyle Ward was before ITG? Banya? good cool? Many people already play all 3 (DDR, PIU, ITG) and there is no reason why you can't.

| You can't say "oh because you didn't listen to obscure in-house artists before the game, the songs are bad". I might not have heard of Kyle Ward before ITG, but I listened to his genres well before ITG. | |

I just like ITG's interface way better than DDR's, and it was more on sync also.

Yeah, I think the graphical interface was really cool, and I'm starting to not hate mines with everything in me, but all in all, I thought ITG was a great game, with great music and decent stepcharts. Two things annoy me about the charts tho
1) I really don't know how to say this, but the stepcharts don't feel like they belong with the song. DDR stepcharts have some serious character, who wouldn't recognize so deep, Tsugaru, Max 300, HVAM, or any of the other classics, by solely their note charts?
2) 11, 12, and 13 footers. I thought the inclusion of hard charts that have never been played before was great, don't get me wrong, but you make the ten footers from DDR look wimpy. Do you remeber the days before ITG? THe days of the 'Almighty Ten Footer'? And because Konami doesn't use the 11 12 and 13 foot labels to their 'almighy boss songs', we get people complaining about how Sakura and Bag (among others) are not real ten footers. They are real ten footers. The others are just '11 12 and 13 footers' that haven't been over-exaggerated by a ridiculous labels, caused by the 'inventiveness' of RoXoR. Dont, get me wrong, i love ITG almost as much as DDR, but it's the labels that make me want to kill myself!
