Default Drum Notecharts(or whatever you want to call them)

Im deciding between getting RB2 or GHWT and i was just wondering what you people thought of the notecharts within the two, which of the two is more challenging is my main question as I've played quite a lot of rythm based games. Also what really piques my interest is the drums- really they're all i want but the guitar aspect would be fun too. So really which of the two do you prefer based on the drum charts/songs(or you know, other stuff within reason)?

Maybe this should help show the notechart of drums of one track - Livin on a Prayer. This song was in two games.

ive been playing rock band way longer and am kind of biased but would have to say rock band is better. if you want hard stuff, then i suppose you should go with ghwt, though i havent played on a decent drumset for that game yet but im sure theres mods as there is for rock band. as for that video, thats just somebody using rb drums on ghwt so the chart is automatically adjusted (which im sure you knew), but some of the other charts dont seem to flow that well on rb drums and im not sure if its because the game is adjusting the chart or the chart just isnt that good. as for the kick pedal, theres some fast parts in both games, but in ghwt you dont have as far to push down so its a little bit easier, but there are all kinds of other replacement pedals out there if you want a good one. There is a bit of crossover with the songs in the games but if you are into downloading songs you might want to go rock band since there are 9823747236 downloadable songs, though they are missing some of guitar heros good pickups (hendrix, death magnetic, van halen). All in all i would say rock band, i dont know what it was, but i had a hard time getting into ghwt. oh yeah, and the rock band 2 drum kit is garbage so if you go that route you may want to get your hands on the RB1 wired set, its not as gargabe, more like recycling

As a drummer in real life, I prefer the Rock Band kit. The GHWT kit doesn't feel right to me. Now I realise that it's not like real drumming, but I feel that Rock Band is a bit more acurate. Also, I think the RB2 kit is a lot better than the original. I don't like the fact that it's wirless though. It still doesn't have the same problems that the first one did. As far as the difficulty, I prefer RB. I like the overall gameplay, and the fact that you actually play fills to activate your overdrive (instead of hitting both cymbals at once with GHWT). The song selction is great for drumming, though there are good songs on both games. Hope this helps.

Rock Band has not only superior gameplay but a larger songlist.

Also, the GT kit doesn't feel natural at all to play. Realism doesn't mean adding one button.

Comparing these games is almost like comparing Slash and Buckethead. Despite the fact that in both games you can play drums and guitar, the "style" of gameplay is completely different. Personally, I like GH:WT better.

The controllers for both RB2 and GH: WT are dissapointing. Both of the sets are okay... I like the GH:WT set because it almost feels like the real thing... sort of.

Both of the games have a lot of crappy features. If you want the hardest/best charts but weird controllers, go for GH:WT. If you prefer flat almost-beatmania-style notes and better, however, unrealistic drums plus easier charts, go for RB. However, I have a hard time reading the RB2 charts because they scroll really really slow.

If you're really good at rhythm-based games and are looking for something hard, get GH:WT (even though the first half of the game is easy for me and sometimes boring).

(bold mine)

I'd like to say some of the pros and cons about the guitar system in the games.

The Hammer-on/Pull-off system for GH:WT is superior to RB2. Sadly, they just had to add "solo sections" in GH:WT for the guitar, where it requires just pressing buttons on the controller, not having the challenge of using the hammer-ons. It's still harder to do than RB2, but it's not what I'm used to. Plus, they added a touch bar where you dont' even have to press buttons during solos at all.. just slide your hand up and down like a retard. Thankfully, you can turn it off in the options. But, the RB2 controller doesn't feel right and seems easily breakable.

So, I guess it's up to you to choose which one you want. They're both fun games and have controllers specifically designed for the gameplay "style." If you want both, though, I would recommend getting the GH:WT package and the single rock band 2 game. If the drum set annoys you enough, you can buy a RB2 set on eBay for 50 bucks.

I say rock band. Its a bit more difficult due to some of the downloadable songs, while the drumset feels right. GHWT's drumset is pretty terrible I think. Does not feel like a drum set even. I also hated the charts and setlist on GHWT. In fact, I was pretty bored through the whole entire game on GHWT. and I play Rock Band almost every day, because it never gets old because of the fun charts, DLC, and new battles. Some of my favorite charts on the disc are Everlong and Panic Attack.
