yeah the code for this game sucks ass. it doesn't work for me in linux. says stuff about not being able to detect stuff that's really there.

hopfully the author will clean stuff up and make the damn thing work for more people

I tested the Guitar Hero song on Frets on Fire and they work. It basically takes all the data from the disc (3 tracks, one being the background music, one being the guitar track, and one I believe is a musical stepchart, not a text one).

I just know, that even though I can play HL2 just fine on my comp, I can't get this game to run smoothly at all unless I'm running it at a 300x240 resolution, in a window, preferably.

Something seriously messed up there.

While FoF CAN import the Guitar Hero songs from your game DVD, it takes FOREVER. I left it on for 5 hours and it was just starting to import the 3rd song. I ended up just downloading them off a torrent.

I just got it. It played and worked fine and I was playing it in 1 minute. If anyone knows how to add already made songs onto this, that would be great.

If anyone can confirm this plays fine (no delays or whatever) with a GH controller if I head over to gamestop and buy an adapter, then I might pick one up if I can find enough songs.

I also like this mod better 'cuz it's much easier to see how long your combo has been going (at least for me).

Frets of fire doesn't have jerryc or daft punk! it's more songs that sound like GH. freetar seems to have the differnt types of songs. anyone with more experience on this, let me know. it looks cool and it's fun to play

This game is awesome.

For the people who couldn't run it, are you using PPC Macs by any chance? because its built for Intel macs. Need to mess around with files to get it to run, I can post how to if anyone needs it.

And there may or may not be torrents for community song packs from Keyboards On Fire here.

Frets on Fire is a game of musical skill and fast fingers. The aim is to play guitar with the keyboard as accurately as possible.

I've decided to mod the game with a skin called "Noob Edition" (pics below)
why i did this :
1. it makes the game run faster because theres less animation
2. looks nicer than the original skin (IMHO)
3. the loud annoying sound when u screw up is gone (trust me, u dont wanna hear it)





note that the original game comes with 3 songs as mine only comes with 1
