Seriously, that song's much more worthy/would be much more fun than Stairway.
Also, they oughta work on getting some Machinae Supremacy in there; namely BOUFF
Edit: *just read back through the topic*

Folks, it's the most repetitive rock music since the Sex Pistols, and it's even more repetitive than the Sex Pistols. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE Harmonix do not put anything like this in the game.
I am all for more of the "hardcore rock" stuff (or metal) as you call it. I think bands like Iron Maiden, Judas Priest, Voivod, Black Sabbath, etc. is pretty good, but I'd like to see something a bit heavier and faster... thrash metal would be great.

Also, Disturbed and Godsmack as well. Just not that damn "I stand alone" song. Good song, but played to death and bastardized to be more public friendly. I really like Godsmack's "The Other Side" album. Adema, Breaking Benjamin, Mudvayne as well. System of a down has sucked for ages. Early albums were good, but then it just went downhill.
I don't find a lot of it repetitive. I consider Green Day and Blink 182 shit, repetitive. The whole Pop Punk bullshit is annoying, and I find that is more of the whole "Hot Topic" Kiddy thing.

Trash Metal is even MORE repetitive, and I'd rather see Nu Metal in GH3 than garbage like Slayer.

The average thrash metal has about 263 riffs per song. Perhaps you should listen to the music instead of dismissing it as noise.
If you tell anyone who plays metal-style guitar (nu-metal doesn't count, it's not metal) that thrash metal is more repetitive than nu-metal, they'll laugh in your face.
Nu-metal is nothing but the bastard child of a nasty threesome between hardcore punk, hip hop, and mainstream rock. If you enjoy it, and you'd rather have it in Guitar Hero 3 than metal bands, okay. That's your taste in music. But don't say that "trash metal" (???) is more repetitive.

They might have some elements sure, but hey times do change. We can't have classic metal forever. When I hear "nu-metal" I think Hoobastank, Korn, or Linkin Park.

There's black metal, death metal, doom metal, power metal, progressive metal, thrash metal, gothic metal, and probably a couple of other genres. I know it sounds ridiculous and KVLT, but they're all very distinct-sounding genres of music, and they're all flourishing today.
You're right, those you listed are surely nu-metal bands - and Guitar Hero and Guitar Hero 2 didn't really have any nu-metal, which is great! I'm just saying that I don't want there to be any in the future. :>

I'm just saying that I don't want there to be any in the future. :> | I well aware of other genres of metal, but I feel "nu-metal" is a broad undefined term that just seems to have a stigma of "Linkin Park type shit". Where you can listen to Megadeth, Slayer, Anthrax and say "Yep its metal, but it still has its own feel, let's call it Thrash Metal" I just don't see that with nu-metal. If I go listen to Disturbed or Godsmack which I enjoy, I get that "oh it's just nu-metal". And I know people think of Linkin Park, Hoobastank, etc... They sound completely different. I mean how does P.O.D's rap rock. sound like Godsmack, or Papa Roach, or Breaking Benjamin or whatever combination you can come up with. Just take any of those and try to make comparisons. It’s just too broad of a term to be definitive genre of music, and I feel there is an unfair stigma associated with some good bands.

Linkin Park, Hoobastank, POD, and Papa Roach all whore the hell out of one-finger power chords. Godsmack kind of does too, but I think they're still more creative than the aforementioned bands.
By the way, If you're asking why I should know all of this while claiming to strongly dislike this music, I work for a radio station, and have a lot of experience playing guitar and composing MIDIs. Hehe.
In the same way, "power metal" can describe keyboard and choir wankery such as Rhapsody or Stratovarius, it can also be used to describe bands that sound more like traditional heavy metal bands i.e. Grave Digger, Running Wild, Helloween, Primal Fear... black metal can be everything from Darkthrone to Marduk, death metal can be everything from Origin to Pestilence, doom metal can be anything from My Dying Bride to Electric Wizard, etc.
Genres of music are pretty broad. I just think nu-metal, for the most part:
a) Uses very simplistic song structure, lots of power chords, and an overuse of wah-pedal for what very few solos there are (hi Godsmack)
b) Tries to incorporate another genre of music in the mix - i.e. hardcore punk for Slipknot, funk for Mudvayne, early 90's grunge for Godsmack, industrial music for a lot of bands, hip hop for a lot of bands
c) Uses very catchy pop-like choruses
d) Is filled with very false, vague anger
e) Takes itself WAY too seriously

Sabath Blody Sabath- Black Sabath
Crowd Chant- Joe Satriani
Communication Breakdown- Led Zeppelin
... and of course stairway to heaven.....
