Guitar Hero Controller button stuck!

I have an X-plorer controller and one day the red button got stuck. Is there anything I can do besides just opening up the controller and fixing it?

Edit: What I mean is that it is recognized as held down but I'm not pressing it.

If you're opening it up though, look for a guide on how to do it properly, because you'll probably forget where stuff goes in there.

Then again, a used guitar from Gamestop is like $20 so go pick one of those up.

if you have an unobservant gamestop employee you could probably trade the broken one in for credit ON the replacement

They can't test controllers, and as long as the whammy bar isn't broken, he's good to go.

And after a series of customer complaints regarding faulty controllers they won't try to catch on and institute stricter policy regarding trade-ins?

Gamestop has far too many trade ins to have a stingy trade policy on anything but games.

They have a refurbishment center for that.

I'll admit to doing this in england as well, but it was the whammy bar. It just didn't work in game, but it still looked and felt genuine (like you can still push it in, it wasn't loose etc.) so they took it off my hands.

I don't know if it's different in the US but they certainly didn't check mine!

Dealing with the interior of an Explorer guitar isn't hard, really. Just take it slow, take a cell phone picture or two if you need to remember where things go (you won't actually move but a few screws and maybe 1-2 pieces to get to the button board anyway) and you'll be on your way. To me, it sounds like one of the rubber pads underneath the button got folded up somehow or slid and is causing perpetual contact. It happened to a friend of mine's guitar and I just had to open it up, take the buttons off, reseat the pad, bam, done.
