Guitar Hero 4 (PS3, 360, Wii, PS2)
- Create a song. Although these exclude vocals due to storage and possible copyright issues.
- You'll be able to name your song as well as creating album art. After you've done all that you can upload it to GH Tunes where anyone can download it.
- You'll be limited to 5 songs at first. But depending on the ratings you get you'll possibly be able to upload 10 or more.
- The song sharing mode will be in the Wii and PS2 versions also, but GI says it's unlikely that it'll be as robust as the PS3 and 360 versions.
- Drums, bass, vocals guitar
- Create a rocker
- Create a guitar and drums
- All songs will be master tracks
- They don't want to discuss specifics on track listing out of fear of being scooped by the competition. However they confirmed 4 bands: Van Halen, The Eagles, Linkin Park and Sublime.
- A new guitar designed by Red Octane that includes a new input mechanic that'll "impact the way you play GH in the future".
- GI saw see through notes while playing that Neversoft said was the new input mechanic and that they were trying to patent.

1.) Rock Band is made by musicians who make video games.
2.) Guitar Hero is made by gamers who tried to make a music game.
One of these was done right. Take a guess as to which one.

Almost everyone agrees that guitar hero I and II were/are better than III. No doubt because the company that made it was better suited to the genre. Harmonix made guitar hero I and II and Rock Band. They are good at it, and will continue to be good at it for the foreseeable future. Neversoft, on the other hand, isn't (to put it bluntly).
When they made GHIII, the things they added (Battle mode, I'm looking at you) aren't worth keeping. So, this time, they are adding a "new" feature that has been proven successful, with the end product likely being a not-as-good Rock Band. | |

Also, nothing was really competing with tony hawk so they didnt really need to change anything... as for their "track record" in this genre, they have GHIII and im sure they know what people dont like about it. im not saying this game will be great, i dont know if it will be good or not, i just dont think everyone should hate everything about it this early when they are just trying to add things to the game that people like about rock band

First they rip off Rock Band to revitalize "Guitar" Hero, next the one new thing about "Activision Rock Band" is then a rip off of Drummania. I mean look at it, same number and types of input, hell, the layout is practically the same. Then again, the Drummania sets are based off the Yamaha kits like the DTXplorer, and the article did say the team based the design on popular electronic drumsets, so I don't really know what to think.
This could be good though. There is a chance this could be compatable with Drummania, and if it is, there could be finally a good controller for it that isn't a $1000 DTXplorer, that is, if there's a PS2 version, which there probably will be.

although i don't think it was necessary for HMX to add anything in, especially when songs like Won't Get Fooled Again have extended periods of no playing, and every other instrument has them on multiple songs. but at least you never get the feeling of "i don't hear what i'm playing" or "why am i playing lead guitar and bass?"
i have to say that that drum controller does look much better than the RB one, based on the raised cymbals alone. but it's really irritating that it's not going to be compatible with RB. i guess they have no intention of getting back any of the fans that jumped ship already, unless they think we all have another $120 (including game) to drop on another space eater.

Still really anticipating this create a song mode, that's been my main focus point of interest since GH started, the ability to create my own songs/notecharts.
And I believe bg_hojo is right, there'd be too many notes, the game would freeze up. :P
