Squarepusher FTW! Though in all honesty something like "Come On My Selector" is infinitely more fitting in beatmania than Rock Band. I believe that the Prodigy ("Poison", "Voodoo People", "Breathe") would translate much better as an electronic-act-in-a-rock-game.

I don't get what you're saying here. There are entire genres of music of which the entire drumline is based around double-kicking, machine gun drums. As Prof. Duck was saying, most metal music (especially modern metal) utilizes multiple pedal drums to achieve a constant stream of eighths or even sixteenths at high BPM values. This is entirely impossible with a single pedal; you would literally need to kick twice as fast as an actual drummer to hit accurate charts of these songs.

Double-bass would open the door for a lot of songss that people want in Rock Band. There could be more Metallica or other thrash, power metal like DragonForce (potentially annoying, but you cannot say that this would not sell like hotcakes as DLC) or some modern American metal bands which are popular, like Lamb of God or other similar bands. Much hard music nowadays utilizes double bass, and it is not accurately chartable or accessable without having this extra peripheral available for players.

Finally, how is two bass pedals a pain? You'll only need to use one for most songs, for one thing, and as well, it makes playing easier. Your legs won't tire on constant drum streams, because you can keep the rhythm easier with both feet. Then the fast drumming can be added, more songs are available, and Rock Band can hopefully get another leg up on the Guitar Hero franchise. It's pretty simple.

Actually creating an accurate depiction of drums would allow them to chart songs properly. I'm pretty sure Metallica used a little more than 4 piece set.

I do agree that not having a double is really holding Rock Band down. I hear complaints from people all the time that they don't like Rock band because the guitar isn't as fun as guitar hero. Simply because it isn't as fun.

Slight correction: Rock Band will eventually need a fucking keyboard peripheral. The possibilities that it can open up (not only melody parts, but also synthetic drum programming a la beatmania) would be tremendous! Imagine getting to play stuff from the Doors, the Beatles, an extended Radiohead canon, Trans-Siberian Orchestra ("Christmas Eve (Sarajevo 12/24) " FTEW), and also the immense fun of a guitar-bass-vocal-keyboard session of "Bohemian Rhapsody" or "Don't Stop Believin'"!!

For now, though, I think Rock Band can go on perfectly fine without one; the guitar peripheral could serve as a keytar if need be, for example.

i'm not too thrilled by the concept of a keyboard peripheral for a game. or even a keyboard-playing simulator. that's just too much. you might as well turn off the game and just play the keyboard by itself. and depending on the game/size of the keyboard, that would take up way too much space on the screen and would be a waste of time for me personally. It just seems too expansive to include a keyboard in a band simulation game when a keyboard isn't as pressing an instrument as a guitar, bass, drumkit, or microphone.

and the guitar does take on a really minimal amount of keytar moments in Rock Band already. In Sprode and March of the Pigs for example.
