Really, the reason I questioned why there's a Guitar Hero forum on Bemanistyle is that half the denizens of Bemanistyle seem to really hate Guitar Hero for being Guitar Hero. In addition, there really does not seem to be many active threads in the forum, and many could easily find a home in "Other Music Games." Put quite simply, I don't think Guitar Hero is popular enough on Bemanistyle to have it's own subforum on Bemanistyle.

My primary motivation for this is really that having a forum that says "Guitar Hero" triggers the trolling mechanism for the elitist Japanophiles of the forum and perhaps if the GH discussionwere more discreet we'd have less useless posts in the vein of "what pisses me of abot guitar heero is that it exists" or "A feature I'd like in the next GH is that it chokes its owner to death for even THINKING of turning his back on the glorious Japanese motherland."

Not necessarily just word of mouth. The game got ridiculous amount of publicity. Magazines and sites practically tout it as the most innovative game of the past two years, there's advertisements for the game in almost every game store or gaming section of a lot of stores, display units, commercials, promotionals, etc., etc. Of course, and it's paid off, GH has been selling like hotcakes.

For people who's only other music-game adventures include DDR, Amplitude, and Beatmania US (read: a good number of journalists), if even those, Guitar Hero would come off as highly innovative, and ridiculously addictive.

And yeah, "Real guitars are for old people" had me rolling around laughing for about 10 minutes.
