Three vs Five buttons, in GF you have to lift it up at points, not in GH (unless you want to use star power)
Vastly different song tastes
Difficulty difference
Whammy bar (? not sure if GF has it)
That's different enough for me, you can't compare them to each other like they're the same thing.

This gives a point bonus of (your combo) x 1000. Much more intuitive than GH where you have to memorize exactly where to use starpower to maximize your score =]

GF's wail-detector is much more lenient than GH's. I believe GF detects a wail past ~70degrees?

It wasn't an 'arcade cabinet' though, it was a PS2 running GH1 (GH2 wasn't out yet) in a GH-decorated wooden cabinet, with a large TV. You gave your £1 to one of the attendants and they let you play a song. It was crappy because it was a HDTV, laggy as hell.

Marketplace Rating: 1 | Edited, shorter versions of the GH songs would definitely make it more arcade-friendly, but the real question is whether Harmonix and co. feel that an arcade venture is worth their time and investment.
And for all we know, Konami could have a copyright/patent/ on 1.5-2min song guitar games...

I think 2 5-minute songs or 3 3-minute songs would be about right, as playing 3 stages and Extra + OMES on just about any bemani comes to about 10 minutes. Maybe instead of a nonstop course, you'd have a 'set' of songs by similar/the same artists. Buckethead set <3

Let Guitar Hero do their own thing for consoles.

But yeah, I think GH would have to go through some readjustments in order to make it playable in arcades. Aside from songs being cut, the arcade version would basically be Quick Play mode or Versus mode only unless some cards were introduced for career mode. (I'm thinking along the lines of Mario Kart here) Not to mention that new songs would have to be made to give the game something new - if it were just the same songs as the console versions then nobody would pay to play something they could play at home.
But I do think it's possible, but slightly improbable. Oh, and I'm a GFdm fan for life so GH should stick to consoles.

Yes, Reenee, I believe that they MUST keep the songs long and count as just 1 stage. Quote: |

Besides, I know people who've been dying to see Dragonforce on III. If you think about it, it would encourage people to try bands such as Dragonforce, given their lack of radio airtime (at least in L.A., of all the places).

Marketplace Rating: 1 | heres a good idea. all data card based (like Club Cart or Inital-D's) as someone mentioned b4. 7.5min to 10min per credit play a song and keep the time you havnt used up another time. although you do have to put in a credit to start the game. so I.E.
I put in a credit and use the card. it puts 10 mins of play time for songs i play a song thats 4.5 min long i can play another song or keep the 5.5 min for the next credit i use.

One: When the gaming stores had it hooked up, after about a month the whammy bar was basically dead and just hanging there because everyone was going crazy with it. Therefore, they would probably have to FREQUENTLY replace the guitars in the arcades. Might be a little pricey. Then again, they could replace them with the money they make off of the game--- but it would be almost no profit for them and... It would be a pain.
Two: There is an issue with the song times..... xD
