PS3 Instruments on PS2

I mean all the instruments are USB, correct? Would the ones for the ps3 work so i don't have to hunt down a ps2 version which ill probably end up paying 200+ for? Could I just buy the PS3 bundle and the sealed game inside could be resold on ebay or whatever, and just buy the ps2 version of the game? Would this be a smart move?

honestly mate i wouldnt bother buying rock band at all .... at least not untill they fix out the flaws with the drums an the guitar

an even then rockband for ps2 is stripped down compared to its ps3 an xbox 360 older brother more then 50% of the game is missing on the ps2 version


just dont be surprised when ur drum kits sensors start failing or come doa out of the box an to get them replaced you have to give ea games your credit card info otherwise they wont replace them for you , which is the biggest joke ive ever seen for a returns policy considering ea are well known for sharing its customers details with 3rd partys without your consent :/

if you have a next gen console your far better getting it on that if you really must have it but id wait untill they start making controllers that are reliable before id drop $200 on it again

I didn't realize they stripped it down for the PS2. I'm getting a Wii but its not available for the Wii yet, with no release date in sight. You think they would strip down the Wii version too, since it isn't as powerful as the 360/PS3?

dont get it for PS2. Many stores have it for PS3/XBOX 360 (or at least all the stores by me still have plenty of rock bands bundles).

Also If your lucky you get a good Guitar like I did (nothing is wrong with it at all, but I do have 2 bundles which, the PS3 one broke pretty fast, but the XBOX one is fine).

Also the only known thing I ever saw wrong with the drumset is one drum is not responsive as it should be, but you get a lifetime warranty on all peripherals.

also PS3 controllers will not work on PS2 from what o hear. The microphone will only work.

Try again, 90 day limited warranty. Not lifetime.

The controllers are the same, they will work. When you buy the PS2 version, there is a paper in there stating that the instruments are the EXACT SAME as the PS3 version's, according to what multiple people who bought the PS2 version have told me.

They dont work. I tried using my Drum thing, but It did not work for me. Maybe It only works in Rock Band, I am not sure though since I do not own The PS2 Rock Band.

What did you try using it on? The drum was designed only to work with Rock Band, and probably not work with any other game seeing as it only has 4 pads.
Also, the PS3 instruments are the same as what they'll be sending out for the PS2 bundle shortly.

I tried to navigate threw the playstation menu, it did not work. The PS logo lights up, but it does that for XBOX 360 as well.

Because most PS2 games are not designed to see a controller on the USB port. The PS2 Rock Band controllers are still in the PS3 packaging with a big sticker that says compatible with PS2. It makes more sense for them to do it this way because that means one less version, so they don't have to split production capacity for a separate SKU.

Also, I my replacement PS3 guitar had the giant PS2 compatible sticker on the box.
