Default things about guitar hero that piss you off

hopefully I'm not the only one here who feels the same way but here are a few things that bother me about the game.

1. not using the official songs

I was acctually talking to a friend about this and apparently there's a law out there that prevents acctual key sounding for licensed songs in the states. I don't know how accurate this is but I would have perferred to have heard freddy mercury acctually singing killer queen than some guy who doesn't really sound like him.

although i do like the bass in the GH version of Unsung more so than the original.

2. People who belive that Guitar freaks/Beatmania US are both rip offs of guitar hero.

I don't think I need to say any more than that.

3.two more keys than GF and hand positioning
I could probally ace killer queen expert if it wasn't for the fact that I can't slide my hand quickly enough.

would anyone else have anything that they would like to add?

also, I'm not bashing the game, it's acctually quite fun. I'm just irritated that someone decided to make money off of someone else by copying someone else's idea. this is just an opinion of mine, nothing more nothing less.

Your friend lies, or else Moby and Timo Maas wouldn't be in the US version of beatmania.

It's not that there's a law against it, it's just very costly to get the master tracks for songs.

well lift me up in beatmania US is noticably different from the full seven or six minute version.

maybe there is still truth to this.

*edit*
I mean the song sounds different, not that it's longer.

It's a pretty solid game minus the whole "I play rhythm games" "Oh so you play Guitar Hero" thing. I also prefer the Guitar Freaks interface or whatever you call what you look at to hit notes. Speed mods thank you.

You realize the ungoddly amount of money it would cost to do that? Konami doesn't do it either. There's no law... just ... no...

They are annoying, but their opinions don't even matter anyway.

I like having more keys, and actually having to move your hand. Feels more like a real guitar that way, instead of just random RGB notes. Not to mention the notes actually try to simulate real chords, and hammer-ons and pull-offs are a good feature.

It goes back to the whole argument that Pump It Up ripped off DDR. They did, yet they didn't. I don't even think Harmonix copied their idea. The just said, lets make another FreQ/Amplitude and this time use a guitar controller. Its like saying that since Guitar Freaks uses a guitar controller, no other game is allowed to, regardless of how different the gameplay is.

pump it up is different, they grabbed an idea and made thier twist on it.

guitar hero however is a complete rip off down to the core.

Hey, as long as I'm entertained, I don't mind who is ripping off who.

As for complaints, I would have liked to have seen either more songs or a more diverse list. Don't get me wrong, I love the songs they have in there now (More than a Feeling = win) but I probably played throuhg the indie songs once and never looked back. I understand the cost for licensing and junk was through the roof for a game like this but hopefully now that they have some backing, they can beef up their song selection for part two.

OK? How?

Pump is a game, that uses 5 arrows instead of 4. GH is a game that uses 5 buttons instead of 3. GH invented the rock meter and the tilting of the controller to activate a star power, and also implemented a form of hammers ons and pull offs.. GF has... none of that. Pump really upped the graphics, GH really upped the graphics....

Seems to me that GH is the pump it up of guitar games, and people simply don't like it for that reason.

just the whole "Konami did it first but GH gets the credit thing" ticks me off.nonetheless its a good game and exposes more people to music sim games, a genre that doesn't get its fair share of media attention...

five arrows different gameplay, and they difficulty isn't compareable to DDR.

ITG is what you meant to say when it comes to 100% bullcrap ripoffs.

Y'know, missing notes drops your meter a lot less than stumming wrong notes.

This is a helpful tip that got me 90% into Bark At The Moon expert. :[ Also passing a few of those songs.

What pisses me off in this game is Cowboys From Hell expert.

Basically.... that's it.

And these cover tracks are amazing. Very well recreated. I don't know how you can not like them (or even understand the fact that it's extremely costly, like AJ said, to obtain master tracks). Also, an original Primus track "John The Fisherman" will be making it on to GH2. Actual track, not covered.

I guess you'd be disappointed if you played any of the US Karaoke Revolution series, or many songs in Konami's games, especially US games.

I enjoy Guitar Hero because, hey, there's familiar songs, albeit with originals, but the focus is moreso on the covers presented of popular US songs, I'd say, unlike GuitarFreaks.

acutally alot of the master tracks they couldnt obtain to begin with they said songs like iron man, more than a feeling, and i think even killer queen, they were so old that there were no master tracks at all or never used back then in cases like iron man

I played Guitar Hero with the guitar horizontal on my lap, beat it, got bored at the lack of challenge. I can't slide my hands up and down the guitar thing, so I play horizontally. I'm not a fan of the music so now the game is teh borings

No training mode (fixed in GH2)
No Weezer
Playing a wrong note makes that annoying noise when it should really just play a wrong note (y'know . . . keysounding!)
Weak multiplayer mode (fixed in GH2)
Red Hot Chili Peppers
Absolutely retarded gameplay interface (although some of the camera shots are cool, like the fret shot)
Hammerons/pulloffs seem a lot harder to do than they should
Speed mods plz

Otherwise it's a fantastic game.
