Xbox 360 GHII DLC Reviews (new packs only) Didn't see a thread for it, so I thought I'd review the new packs you can download for the 360. I didn't want to cover the GHI - II conversions, just the new stuff. Also, I've only played the Expert chart thoroughly for each pack, not hard, but I can if it's requested of me.
I know what's easy for me might not be easy for everyone else, so to give you an idea of my skill level, I've gotten the Start A Real Band Already Award, Champagne Room VIP, and I'm about 8K from 5-starring Jordan on Expert.
At the end of each song review, I put what tier I would've placed the song in, had it been a normal career song. My Chemical Romance Pack
This pack contains the songs Famous Last Words, Teenagers, and This Is How I Disappear. I'd never heard any MCR songs other than Dead (decent) and The Black Parade before, so I was pretty unbiased on what I would think of the pack beforehand. Famous Last Words - By far the most repetitive song in the pack, with only a mildly challenging solo. The rest of the song is not very challenging for experienced players, I was able to get over 400K and a 97% on my first play through (up to a 99% after 3 plays). Tier 5 difficulty, at most. Teenagers - I hated the song right from the get-go, the style was just ANNOYING, but this was IMO the most difficult song to 5-star in the pack... which isn't saying much. I 4-starred it my first try (5-starred the 2nd), simply because it had some unexpectedly challenging parts. Once you nail the intro, you're probably good for the rest of the song. I'd put it in Tier 6. This Is How I Disappear - Another repetitive one, but not nearly as repetitive as Famous Last Words was. Easy to get 300K+ on, and I 5-starred it on my first try. Tier 5-ish difficulty.
If you haven't gotten the 400K Club achievement, this is the pack to earn it with. You can get it easily on Famous Last Words.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Indie Label Pack
This pack contains the songs Bury the Hatchet by Protest the Hero, Detonation by Trivium, and Ex's and Oh's by Atreyu. Again, like with the MCR pack, I'd never heard any of these songs prior to playing them, so I had no prior bias as to whether I preferred them or not. Most of these songs have lots of screaming in them, so if that's not your thing, steer clear of this pack. Bury the Hatchet - The note chart for this song is SUPERB. A very fast-paced song, with some of the fastest HO/POs outside of a solo in any song in the game, especially the intro and outro. The solo itself it pretty difficult as well. It took me 5 playthroughs to 5-star this one. If you're looking for a challenge, this is the song to play. Tier 7. Detonation - Another difficult song to 5-star (4 playthroughs on this one). Not much I can say about this one. The notechart is plenty challenging, but for some reason, the chart didn't catch my interest as much as Bury The Hatchet did. Tier 7. Ex's and Oh's - The easiest song in the pack, but has a good solo. Fun to play, and not too difficult to 5-star (got it on my first try). Not much else to say about this one except it has some repetitive chord progression, but I still enjoyed it. Tier 5.
If you only had 500 Microsoft Points to spend on a pack, I'd DEFINITELY recommend this one over every other pack on the Marketplace. It's great.
