help with things i saw?

hi i'm new to this forum and i've been playing taiko for a bit... started with DS and found a local arcade called espot where im able to play the drums... anyways
i went to hong kong this summer and i saw some really good players and for the first time i saw them do rolling? and the stroke thing u do to hit a lot during the long yellow bars. they seem to do a kinda do a thing where the drum sticks 90 degrees to each other and hits in the middle ? i was just wondering how to do this cause im quite confused : (

Hold the drumstick with your thumb and index (it should move if you shake it a little), then place your hands 90 degrees (for beginners), then shake it a little bit, it should bounce, when you bounce the drumstick when you roll, it should be quite impressive

oo ok thanks but im not talking about rolling cause i know how to do it im talking about.. what this guy does at 0:42

yeah.. to hit lots during the yellow bars
help anyone? or is thing just done however the player prefers, because i've seen a lot of different styles of hitting it fast
