Nice, another AC installment! I wish there's some details on the latest console installment.

Strangely, Bandai Namco are keeping really "hush-hush" about it...

I can't seem to find PS2 Hachidaime info anywhere

Do the arcade games come out anywhere but Japan?

Well, many countries get Taiko...

For example... the US, Malaysia, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Australia...

If you are talking about other arcade games, Pump It Up was from Korea

Ah sorry I was probably a bit vague above.

I didn't think that the actual Taiko arcade machines were to be found anywhere but Japan, owing to the fact that it's inherently Japanese, the whole taiko drum aspect, and that most of the songs are japanese/jpop/japanese commercials etc

So I wasn't sure if it gets ported over to other countries like the US due to the fact that localising it isn't quite as easy as localising something like a racing game, where you need only change the text. Localising a taiko machine would mean choosing different songs, making new song charts, unless they simply brought over the import machine as is.

I haven't been very many places but the only place that I'd seen/heard about the actual arcade machines for taiko was in Japan. But it seems there's a number of people from the US talking about the arcade machines, and new songs etc, so I wasn't sure if it was just a keen interest in tracking what was going to be on the new machines, or if there were some number of taiko machines in the US.

Living in Australia, and specifically Western Australia the number of arcades is pretty paltry, and the selection of machines (is woeful, and) usually just reduced to ticket machines and older arcade machines (think Raiden 1,2 & Aliens arcade shooter), not really catering for music games beyond the odd DDR machine. I didn't expect there to be any taiko machines here, but if they're in the US and many other countries then I guess there's always a chance that there'll be one around here somewhere, so I was just curious if they'd seen releases anywhere barring Japan.

I'm thinking I'll probably have to keep on with my home versions though.

Well, I was at YouTube once and I saw this guy playing Taiko 8 in Australia...

And Taiko 8 is pretty new, too.

The only Taiko machine in the US that I know exists for sure is in TGA in Massachusetts, and that's a 10, upgraded from a 9. I'm pretty sure they've already ordered the upgrade kit for 11.

創聖のアクエリオン

Why do so many people love the Sousei no Aquarion OP1 so much?! The Yoko Kanno/AKINO collaboration just won't die down......

And I was wondering why TC put Daybreak's Bell into the J-Pop list until I went to the actual site. At least now I know for sure it's the Gundam 00 OP.

The only other news that would top this is the announcement of a new PS2 Taiko.

This images speaks for itself.

New things regarding the machine:

Taiko drum sticks can now be put in a casing located below the drum. They are not to be put on the side of the drum anymore. (Which is... rather inconvinient)

But most frequent players of Taiko AC machines will have their own drum sticks (like me :P)

On the side note: We need a new PS2 and PSP release!

I don't really see why putting the bachi at the new location is inconvenient.

Usually Namco is pretty quiet for their releases. I asked when I tried to order a game at the same shop I order my DS version. They don't know anything either.

There should be a release early 2008. It seems Taiko games come out almost on the same track as IIDX. I could be wrong. What is next the 8th installment of Taiko for PS2 or 9th?

Well, the last one was Nanadaime, so the next one would be aptly named Hachidaime.

Usually, the PS2 ones are released on December...

Godaime: 12/9
Rokudaime: 12/8
Nanadaime: 12/6

Where is Hachidaime??? Bandai-Namco is way overdue for this. Y_Y

I'm hoping for an early spring release... around January or February.
