As far as I know, Melbourne's arcade (referred to as "Blue/Yellow House" by the gamers though the actual store name is "e-Games") is the only arcade in Australia with a Taiko no Tatsujin cabinet. And, thankfully it upgraded its 6th Mix to 11th Mix two weeks ago because NO ONE was playing it before.

There are a couple of reasons behind no-one having a Taiko cabinet in Australia:
1) It costs $12,000 AUD (not including shipping costs) just to ship one to Australia.
2) Zax Amusements is a dodgy bastard and he'll sell the cabinet for slightly cheaper, but as for the game, he overprices. And they're usually just copies from the original Japanese game/board.

Essentially, though, both reasons are related to it costing an arcade an arm and a leg. Considering Australian arcades just don't get as much business as Japanese, Hong Kong/Taiwan, and U.S. arcades, it's simply not worth it. And, yes, you can forget about Replay getting it. I'm pretty sure John can't be bothered upgrading IIDX unless he gets it for cheap (which, I can sell to him ASSUMING I get can GOLD working on our machine...).

Hope this helps.

I've just got a chance to play TnTj AC 11 yesterday (I went home for a small vacation). The arcade I went has both the Japanese and Asian version. They also have AC 9 and 10, but the drums are bad. Somehow the system think I hit the face of the drum instead of the rim occasionally, which can take me a few times to get to Oni mode. The AC 11 ones are fine. Sadly, I need a lot of practice to play the songs I know in Oni mode. For example, the TnTj DS theme "Kimi ni Taachi" is not hard, but I couldn't even pass it in Oni mode. What I saw was some people brought their own bachi (taiko drumstick) that's shorter than the the arcade ones. That will probably help.

Anyone tried to alternate versions? It's cool that the "Yawaraka Sensha" alternate version is the same as Nanadaime's Taiko Tower 9.

Oh, I do make my own drumsticks. The ones in the arcade are just so heavy it makes it difficult to do streams of notes. The ones I made are shorter and so much lighter; making it easier to pass Kita Saitama

My local arcade does not upgrade the game from their old drum cabinet. They keep buying new ones... they must be making tons of money from there... -_-;

I'd kind of rather them keep 10th style and just fix up the buttons a bit, I prefer paying $1 for a go of an outdated mix that I've never played than pay $2 for a go of a newer style that I've never played before...

Those of you that make your own bachi to use in the arcade, how do you make them, or what do you make them out of?

I use the mop/broom stick to make my bachi. XD

Just cut, smoothen and use. It's so easy.

It's also much lighter than the arcade ones
