It's not really notes. It's a flaw in the controller design where the sensor strip for the corner hits becomes loose, enough so that even when not hitting it, it will trigger the sensor, causing ghost hits which can sometimes cause you to miss notes.

Well I feel I'm starting to get better. I can beat the Soul Calibur III theme on oni pretty easily now, and I've beaten the oni version of that ping-pong ball bouncing sound song as well!

I'm a little bit torn though, I've done my tax return and I'm getting enough back to fund purchasing a PS3, but I don't know whether to get a US or JP one. I've ruled out getting an Australian one though as despite my collection being about 49% PAL, 49% US and 2% JP, I really don't want emulated backwards compatibility.

But yeah, I've got some US games that I want to finish still, so I was thinking US PS3 would be good there, but then Taiko I feel has a much longer shelf life, and I've only just bought it, so a JP PS3 would be better there.

The only other factor I can think of is the CERO ratings, due to CERO being quite harsh on some violent games you'd be getting the censored versions of said games, there's an easy enough way to get around it by getting a fresh game-save from someone owning the game in an uncensored region, but I wonder how much hassle that would really be.

Hmmm, if there was a Taiko game coming out on PS3 then it'd be a non-issue for me I guess!

Ahaha sorry to go so off topic there! I guess ultimately I'm going to want to keep out my PS2 still since I've got such a wide spread of games from mulitple regions but still, the benefits from backwards compatibility on the PS3 are nice.. upscaling is good!

I'll keep it, but I'd just like to shelve it away in lieu of a PS3. I've got too many consoles around as is -_-

umm, how long did it take before your drum started doing the ghosting thing? Cause mine seems to be doing that after having it less than a week lol...

Was yours from the US version, if so, then it's most likely that the glue holding the corner sensor down has deteriorated.

Agh stupid moderator approval thing...

No, mine is the one which comes with wai wai happi rokudaime. I would post a link to the one it is but then my post wouldn't be accepted :P It's the newer japanese one anyway.

I tried opening it up but I really have no idea what i'm doing... would it be possible to give me more detailed advice on what to do? Thanks in advance.

When you open it, make sure that you're in a clean environment free of debris, and that the ribbons aren't being stretched too far, although those are pretty secured onto the PCB. Proceed by removing the rubber skin by pulling on the pegs that is holding onto it outward. You'll see a contact mesh made of plastic and silicon. The culprits will be the corner sensors. Check to see if they haven't come loose. If yes, then find some super glue and place a VERY small amount under where it has come loose and smooth it out. If it doesn't appear to be loose, then just smooth it out anyways with your fingers. Then begin pulling the pegs back into the slots again. Note that the skin will not be removable near the start/select panel, since it goes under it, and it would require you to unscrew it off, but that isn't necessary.

Then close everything and test it again. It SHOULD work for a good while again. If it does it again, then repeat as necessary.

Thank you very much for your response

Well, I opened it up again but it seems like the peg thingies holding the skin on aren't going to come off without breaking them... perhaps they were different in the older version of the drum? Anyways, my plan was to break a few of them so I can get to the problem area, but I wondered if you had any thoughts about this?

While it was open I fiddled around with it and it actually worked alright for a few songs... I'm guessing I pushed the thing in but it came loose again because it's not stuck properly.

Thanks again!

The pegs are also made of rubber since they're part of the skin. You could just tug on them outward.

The pegs came out fine in the end, should've just trusted your instructions.

Anyways, it's working fine now, woo
