A few options to play Taiko Wii

1) Get a Japanese Wii and play it.
2) Get an American MODDED Wii and play it
3) Get a PAL MODDED Wii and play it

I used option 2. :P

Finally got my copy today!

The tatakon works on an NTSC-U Wii, so I'm assuming it works on all other non-Japanese Wiis as well. I'm using GeckoOS to play it.

I'm not sure if I should be posting this question here, but... which songs in the J-Pop section are covers and which are originals?

could it be my hdtv? or is there a way to plug the drum directly into the wii? or am i just straight up screwed...?

EDIT: I plugged it into my regular tv instead of my hdtv and it works FINE!! WOOT

Ah you discovered the greatest threat to a rhythm gamer... DISPLAY lag (from HDTVs upscaling the signal). Lots of talk in the IIDX forum about that.

If you do want to use your HDTV, there is a calibration function of sorts in the options... it's under the Automatic Timing Adjustment in the Player Timing Adjustment section, which will let the game figure out how much lag you have and assign the appropriate calibration.

All the JPop and Anime songs have been covers. It's just cheaper for Bamco that way.

So it's safe to assume that, outside of the Lucky Star OP, every other J-Pop and anime song is a cover?

No, Hare Hare Yukai was definitely not a cover, and I'm pretty sure Cha-la Head Cha-la isn't either. Anybody should be able to tell the difference between Kageyama's voice and somebody else's because he's probably the only that can sing it right.

Well, I was more referring to the Wii game in particular, rather than other Taiko versions (Wii version does not have Hare Hare Yukai, for instance)

Also, I'm at 9th DAN, and I finished Hana's second challenge... and there's nothing else to do (I have gold on everything available in the Dojo mode). How do I get more challenges for the dojo?

You get new challenges in the dojo every dau until a certain point, just alter the date of your Wii system.

I have freeloader and I'm considering getting this game. My Wii version is 3.2 right now and I was wondering if you need to update your Wii to play this game?

You don't need to upgrade it; the software will automatically upgrade for you

My current songlist stands:

11 J-POP
11 ANIME
02 Childrens
02 Folk
08 CLASSIC
07 GAME
28 NAMCO
__
69 SONGS

Missing one.
I have unlocked Rotter Tarmination, all 2000 series songs, Carnivorous Carnival, several others with japanese names. I've done almost all of the dojo challenges. What am I missing? Do I need to clear all the medium and easy songs as well?

Actually, they're still ALL covers. The singers sound slightly off in Hare Hare Yukai. I haven't actually listened to the Lucky Star one yet, but I am absolutely certain that Cha-La is a cover, too. There CAN be other singers that do the song justice.

The best way to find out if the song is a cover is to see the credits. If they don't credit the original singer, then it's a cover.
