Total Tokens: 3,471,413.45 Donate Tokens | Taiko no Tatsujin; worth getting imports? I bought the US version about a year ago & found it to both be fun, but found the 30-ish songlist to be alittle to small for me (& most being meh. But come on! RIIIDDGGGEEE RACCCEERRR!) & the fact it doesn't matter if you hit on the right or left side (could've added more challenge). I've seen the DS, but haven't been hearing any reviews on it.
So, if it's cheap enough, I've decided to give it another chance. What would be a good game to start on? To my knowledge, there's like 9 of them for the PS2. Also, don't they also do anime songs (Isn't Hare Hare Yukai from Haruhi Suzumiya on one of them?)?
Based on the songlist that lists all the songs ever, I noticed these, thanks to the fact they've been on a Bemani game or Ouendan/2:
Glamorous Sky
Galaxy Express 999
Go!!!
もってけ!セーラーふく (The Lucky Star OP. I'd kill to play this. It appears to be on 10)
Train Train
Butterfly (pretty sure it's not the same one as on DDR)
Brand New World
Hot Limit (also not sure if it's the one on DDR)
One Night Carnival
I apologize if there's a thread that answers this...

based on just a few songs, Hare Hare Yukai is in Doka! To Omori Nanadaime (7CS for PS2), and glamorous sky is in Wai Wai! Happy! Rokudaime (6CS). From what everyone has said, myself included, it's ALWAYS worth importing the Japanese versions, simply because you don't need to know Japanese to figure out how to navigate through the game, and the obvious fact that they have way more songs.
Start with CS5 (Go! Go! Godaime!) and work your way up from there. the Lucky Star OP is not in any consumer version of Taiko, but I'm willing to bet that it will be in either the next PSP or PS2 release.

Yes, it worth to import. I got Taiko 7 and it's so awesome! I'm planning to get Taiko 6 at Christmas.
And in JP Taiko games, theres an awesome song series called "2000". Tons of song from this series are awesome.
To get "Saitama2000" and "Kitasaitama2000" as MP3, get the simfiles at the Bemanistyle simfile database.
I never tried Taiko US. But I will never get it. There's no songs from the 2000 series in it. I ever thought it looks lame .

Butterfly (pretty sure it's not the same one as on DDR) (No, it's different from the DDR ones - It's a j-pop song)
Brand New World (AC 9)
Hot Limit (also not sure if it's the one on DDR) (I think it's the same...

Right now, I'm hearing 6 & 7 (The Idolm@ster is on it!). I'll buy them from Play-Asia. I wanna see if I can start w/ a "PS2 The Best" so I can only pay half the price ($30), like I did w/ Pop'n Music (but I did buy the controller w/ it...). There's a Special Pack that has 3rd Generation & Animated Cartoon Festival for $60.
& how's the DS version? Did they ever fix that bug? I wouldn't mind buying that, since it comes w/ the 2 free styli.

Unless there's some crazy version where it's different that I don't know about :P but that'd kinda suck anyway.
I believe they did fix the ds version bug yes.

Now, what I'm meaning is, I wish they made it so you had to, say, hit Red Left, or Blue Right, or Red Right & Blue Left at the same time.

Simply because the majority of the fans like the present way. People like the way of doing easy combos and getting points, people like to be lazy in that they use 1 stick on the big notes instead of both.

Total Tokens: 7,157,167.48 Donate Tokens | Actually, the whole reason for TnT's system to be like that is because no matter how you hit the center of the drum, it pretty much sounds the same, and this can also be said for the rim. The only reason Donkey Konga is like that is because each drum is a different size, so they each make a different sound. :-)

Total Tokens: 2,367.94 Donate Tokens | If you want to stick to the Taiko-hitting console versions, 7 is the way to go. Hands down.
As for portable versions, as much crap as the DS version is getting, I find it a touch more enjoyable than the PSP versions. Don't get me wrong; I love the PSP's clean graphics and minigames, but something about the whole tactile aspect of Touch! De Dokodon (DS) makes it overall more pleasing to me than clacking away at the shoulder buttons on Portable and Portable 2.
Keep in mind, though, that the vast majority of the DS version's songlist has already been on previous TnTs (I think GO MY WAY!! and the SMB theme are the only two exclusives). And you can download songs onto Portable and Portable 2, bringing your songlist up to 72, I believe.
Still, I love my DS. Wouldn't have it any other way.

DS is pretty fun but I can't really play with touch screen so I only play with buttons...
