Default Tatakon cleaning?

So I've been playing TnT pretty vigorously for the last two to three months; the move to Oni is brutal, but I'm getting the hang of it.

So anyways, when the wife plays, the sensors really are having a hard time responding. And it's not just the spine, either; the center of the drum seems to need a lot more force than before. So I wish to clean the inside of it; but am not sure how, or exactly what kind of maintenance I should do to the Tatakon.

Can anyone help me out? Maybe a site or some directions on how to take apart the Tatakon without breaking the thing?

Thanks to any that help.

Taiko no Tatsujin 7 confusion!

Mechagai gave me some instructions in that thread on how to open it up and stuff, but the problem seems to be different to yours... I don't think 'cleaning' it is really going to do anything. If your tatakon is registering hits when you don't hit it then that means a sensor has come loose, but I don't think that should happen with the middle bit.

Sorry I can't be more help.

I used this method MechaGai taught me.

Quote from Mechagai

"Try taking it apart. First unscrew the underside of the controller then carefully remove it by having it hinge from the top, since a circuit ribbon comes from the top of the controller to the bottom side. Then remove the rubber covering, and procede to just smooth out the sensors, especially the right corner sensor. Then just pull the rubber pegs back over the holes, put the top and bottom parts together, and screw back shut. It should be responsive again. "

The center of the drum was never supposed to be responsive simply because there's no sensor there. You should try hitting it along the left and right side.

Also, yes. You can follow that guide, but also check the center sensors as well. Just do the same and simply smooth it out. It would be trickier to try to apply glue to that since it's pretty much glued along the outside, so if you notice it loose anywhere around it except for the top area, you can go ahead and try to adhere it back with a small amount of super glue, then do the same for the corners.

Oh, I should have asked this first. What version of the drums are you using? The ver.2 drums (ones that were sold after Sandaime was released), or Ver.1 drums (sold up until Sandaime)? Ver.1 drums have a way shinier surface and feels more like plastic instead of rubber, and they're known for its nature to become unresponsive like that.

I recently purchased Taiko and we(girlfriend) go at it for hours.
How do I know when its time to "clean" it?

When you feel like you aren't playing as good as you usually do. :P

IF you mean like the outside, wipe it down with a damp cloth at least once a week or so. If you let it go like that for at least 2 weeks of decent play, it will get really dirty. :-\
