Was planning on entering this in a local writing contest but missed the deadline. I generally don't like poetry but this one seems to work, despite the somewhat archaic grammar. Beautiful Insanity
My true love’s left me today.
Flash, bang, out the windowpane.
A beam of light across the sea,
Never to return to me.
The many miles away she lies
Is smiled upon by heaven’s skies.
Any God would not allow
Such poetry to take a bow
And leave the stage it played so well
To send a poor man straight to Hell.
The only way this can be right
Is if the Lord has taken flight,
And left the mortal world alone
To suffer as Satan condones.
Oh, why does He allow such pain
To penetrate my feeble brain?
Why are life and truth and love
Scorned and shamed by up above?
To love and lose gives more to pain
Than any man can self contain,
Where only Lucifer controls
The mortal fools and desperate souls.
Simple pleasure unattained,
Pure contentment so distained;
If all of Earth exists this way,
Man won’t live another day:
Sending prayers to the sky,
Tells the world he’s said goodbye.
Desperate men speak poetry,
Such beautiful insanity:
God is dead if love is gone,
So am I once day is done.
