I wrote this some years ago for a creative writing class; I came across it while poking around my old My Documents.

Striving for Truth

I run and join with my friends,
As we search for the truth in men,
Through a web of dread, deceit and lies.

We find the truth, but we must flee,
The web of lies flows over me,
Covering the truth up from my eyes.

So take, all the lies, away from men, we'll know truth again,
Seal, them away, deep in Hell. Will they stay? Time will tell.

And I will tell you this:

You can conjure up a thousand lies to deceive us, more and more...
Those thousand lies will be the reasons why we are striving, for the truth.
Oh!

Lies manipulate your mind,
Preconceptions you will find,
Have nothing to be based upon.

We won't back down from our crusade,
We'll fight the lies bereft of aid.
We may perplex, but we'll push on.

So take, all the lies, away from men, we'll know truth again,
Seal, them away, deep in Hell. Will they stay? Time will tell.

And I will tell you this:

We'll always strive for truth,
Strive for a thousand years or more...

Manipulation, falsification, fabrication, annihilation,
We'll strive to see that they are gone.

Damnation, frustration, elevation, procreation,
