When I was using the default marker, I was getting A's and B's. As soon as I changed to Shutter I improved 100k immediately.

When the shutter is almost closed, the word TOUCH will appear (although dissembled). On the next frame the shutter will completely close and the word will merge as well. Try going into marker change screen and just stare at it for a few seconds and you'll know.

On slow songs I wait until I see the word TOUCH and move my hand, by the time my hand arrives(?) the shutter would have been totally closed and get a perfect.

On faster songs it's more beat and feeling but if I use a different marker like egg or flower, my score goes down by 50k easily so knowing the timing of the marker really helps.

I've choosen the shutter marker because it seemed like the easiest one to notice when to press, while I was choosing from the different markers on the list. I will try looking at it again, maybe now it will be easier to notice when to press, also during the gameplay afterwards. Somehow even if I know theoretically how to read it, I'm still not 100% sure whether I really know it. I try to hit the marker (shutter) at the moment it closes. Today, during my play I was paying attention and played my songs more carefully then normally, so I got rewarded with better scores. However, I cannot tell for sure whether it was thanks to reading of a marker or listening to the beat. Probably both .

If you don't have e-amusement, you cannot unlock songs. Are all the songs already unlocked at your place? Or can you only play the songs that are on the list from the beginning?

Today's record

I can only play the default songs.
I've played the unlockable songs for the original jubeat during the summer, but I will be missing out on Ripples unlockable songs until at least December.

Looking at the marker closely does help indeed. Especially when going for EXCELLENT playing BSC songs, I pay more attention to the visual of the marker than the beat or music.

Quite neat stuff there

That and the fact that you guys have ripples in such a short timeframe since its release (that and you guys are the only ones in Western Hemisphere that have ripples or even jubeat to begin with). So yeah, that alone is really something IMHO

I saw that you played mostly extreme level songs, and even though you played them for the first time there are also full combo songs in between. And otherwise they have nice scores. Really nice! How long were you playing yesterday, if I may ask?

Yeah I'm really lucky to have Ripples here in Canada (although it's a 2 hour trip from and to the arcade =P)

I played 15 credits I think, 3 songs a credit and I played through the entire EXTREME except the ones that I've SSS+FC on the first try so there is 35. I played 8 songs on ADV so that's 43. Then I think I replayed a couple songs.
Time wise there was practically nobody because I went in the morning, so only took about 2 hours or so? to play 15 credits.

The difficulty really depends on the song, like Ashita Hareruya EXT is way easier than Kiss & Ride ADV and such.
The level system is a little different between difficulties (Level 6 on EXT is not necessarily easier -it's probably harder- than some other song which is Level 7 on ADV) but it's reasonably close.

Full Combo is nothing special since jubeat scoring doesn't depend on combos. There may be songs that you can't FC even though your score's SSS, there may be songs that you FC'd but can't even get S or SS.

So.. FC on EXT isn't anything special (unless it's for a really hard song)

I don't t think I will ever have any arcade game in Europe. I'll try playing a lot during my stay in Japan.

2 hours play without waiting time sounds very good. Here, there is always a line of these waiting to play jubeat. And it also takes me about one hour to get to the place where I can play.

For me FC is more special, since I rarely get FC. It doesn't really matter to me that the scores don't change much because of this, I'm just happy to know I didn't miss any note. So in the same way I find it pretty neat that you FC your songs on extreme level.

Thanks for the warning about the level and the kind of songs, I'll remember it next time I will be choosing my songs.

Congrats on your records. Those are quite high. Its a pity you're stucked with these pop songs. They're quite easily 990ish able especially after playing them a few times. The 9s and 10s are more of a challenge. ^_^. I didnt play them much. Of course theres a deceivingly hard level 8 unlock song in Ripples... I manage to at least S all the songs in ripples(Including the 9s and 10s like macuilxothl) on my first try but that level 8 song(Sumidagawa) takes the cake of just being a high B on my first try. Its definitely not an 8. Haha.

Hope you get e-amusement soon. The bemani songs are usually more popular around here. ^_^. Though I lost interest in Jubeat after a while, didnt bother to rank up all the way to SS in the first Jubeat even though I played for like almost 8 months. Didnt play a lot, compared to most other local players. Same for ripples. Currently only silver Ocelot, when there are a buttload of gold rankers and platinums. Haha. Losing interest in Jubeat.

I would say you should star playing more extreme songs. If you can get those scores for basic and adv, I would say the ext should be very doable for you ^_^. I skipped basic and advance songs totally, felt like a waste of money playing them. Haha.

As for marker, I would say pick something that can help you easily spot and gauge the timing. The more popular markers around here would be the Shutter(One of the most popular ones, I use it too because its simply good), flower(basing on jubeat markers alone, this is the fastest marker after mirrorball), fireworks(Slowest marker, but very little movement on screen. Doesnt make things hard to see) and gauge. Theres also people playing Mirrorball, those are beyond me. Mirrorball is almost unplayable on reaction, most probably the players have memorised the bulk of the song, or at least muscle memory. Its rather fast, but what makes it unplayable is how its so small during the first 1/2 of the animation such that its almost unnoticable. Its as if you have sudden on in IIDX. All in all, there are also people who can get superb scores using weird markers. Its up to you getting used to a particular marker, once you're used to it, you're all set. My personal recommendation is try around and see whats best, but most people sort of like the shutter because of how it is the only one that covers the whole box(not including ripples marker).

In my personal humble opinion, both jubeat and ripples default markers are horrible. Jubeat marker is hard to tell the timing and doesnt cover the box, kinds of hard to spot. And moves a lot. Very horrible to tell the timing. For ripples marker, it covers the box and is pretty, can easily tell your own accuracy but the problem is it doesnt close in uniformly like the shutter. It closes in fast then slows down as it reaches the center. A bit weird in my opinion.

I've played a little bit more since my last update, but I got my bag stolen at the arcade so I wasn't in a mood to play jubeat or post my scores for the last 2 weeks.

Because of the 2 week break, my hands rusted and my scores didn't improve much.

I have 6 EXT songs on S, 5 of them 940k+ so won't be long before all SS. All SSS seems to be a stretch =P

As for e-amuse, the next time I go to a place where it's available I'm playing the heck out of it again.

Hm? Why do I want to limit the thread to Vancouver when there are a couple posters who are from all over the world.

I think the machine was shipped from Hong Kong, because the machine region setting was set to HK on the original.

And there are internet sites that ship Bemani machines to the Western world. If I could find it, then arcade owners can find it too.

I just started playing a few weeks back.
And I find the game great to play. Something a bit different from IIDX.

I just figured out how to change the setting off of basic a few days ago. Haha.
I still suck at this game, but I finnaly broke the 89,xxx ranking last night, and sit somewhere in the 88,xxx field now. :P

Here is a video of me playing YMCA on what ever the 3rd hardest setting is. (I think)

An amazing game, called Jubeat on Vimeo

Hello there, always good to see new players.
If you have e-amuse in your area (I assume so since you know your ranking) I'd suggest playing all songs on Basic then Advanced then Extreme.

Not only will it help you know the timing of the markers better, you'll also read noted better.

One secret behind player videos: if you REALLY want a good shot, get a chair and let the cameraman stand on the chair while shooting. Or if using a camcoder shoot it from above head level and use the rotatable screen to check the angle.

Thanks, it is a lot of fun.
I skipped around a bit on the songs and difficulties, because there is always a huge line at the arcade, and I generally only get to play 1 set before I leave. That and the arcade is sooooo loud, so it is semi difficult to even hear the song.

Thats a great idea about the chair.
We will have to try that next time, if no one is around.
I already have enough people staring at me for being non-Japanese in Japan.
Having someone stand on a chair would probably throw them over the edge.
We are using our simple camera to shoot video, but we might try something like a chair, but not till I get better or have something to show.

Thank you.
