I understand their desire to test the game to a more "casual" market, but god damn I wish they would give the game a run at SVGL, AI, or some other arcade with a Bemani following.

Other than that, I am really excited about the prospect of this game being released, and the multiple location tests are just giving me more hope.

I'm playing the hell out of this thing if it ever shows up at SVGL.

The only thing I don't like about this is the four tokens per song thing...

I honestly wouldn't be surprised if that was just a temporary thing. Like Eddie said in his initial writeup, Guitar Hero AC was the same way. But I've been seeing more GHAC machines set to 2 tokens instead of 4 these days. Hopefully either the number of songs is increased or the cost is decreased when the game launches.

The game looks really cool, I would love for it to hit NY or NJ and give it a whirl.

Also A-Ha and Earth, Wind & Fire?
Fuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuck yes.

Dang I wish it gets an official release.

There is a Ripples machine here in Vancouver and it is quite popular,
Konami should send a employee over here and see the appeal of this game to casual gamers.
(I'd say over half the people playing are casual)

I haven't played recently, the buttons are wearing off but not enough repair material around here I guess. Which is just another proof that the game will succeed.

Do you know the exact address for the location of the Ripples machine in Vancouver? I'll be there Feb and want to hit it up.

There's an arcade with Ripples machine inside a mall. The arcade is called "Command HQ" and usually called CHQ.

The address is
Metropolis At Metrotown & Metrotown Centre
4700 Kingsway
Burnaby, BC V5H 4M1
(604) 438-4715

It's not exactly in the city of Vancouver but in Metro Vancouver.
Roughly an hour bus ride from almost anywhere in (the city of) Vancouver and like 20-30 minutes from Downtown via Skytrain.

Back on topic,
jubeat and Ripples both took 5-6 months to get released in Japan after their location tests. So I'm not expecting to see Jukebeat's official release before Summer 2010.

Yup the only one of its kind in the Western Hemisphere.

In any case:
We'll have to see though as this is just a location test (albeit a silent one that doesn't seem to want to be promoted as much I'm afraid). Nevertheless, I'll still remain optimistic that this would see the light of day (officially of course)

I had high hopes for Ubeat's official release, not sure why it was canceled.

I just love playing new songs and new charts so I would have played the hell out of test machine if I came across one.
Not really fond of getting attention but I wouldn't mind if it results in positive location test results =P

So is this identical to Ubeat short of the name?

It looks more of a customized version of jubeat ripples for the Americas market. Either way, not much information is known about this or if they would make this game official. Apparently, whether we like it or not, Konami seems tightlipped about a few things. That and they should promote e-amusement more as well as releasing more games that would take advantage of the service (if I remember right, the pricing scheme for e-amusement is charged based on location and not on the number of machines......so the more machines you connect to the the internet, the more value you get out of the e-amusement connection and of the monthly fee).

Just my two cents on this

Better interface and more stuff than UBeat. But who cares UBeat was never released so most people wouldn't know the difference.
