Default DJ MAX Portable 1: worth owning?

So I have DJMP2 and love it to death, but I want to know more about the original game before I decide to get it. Or maybe Clazziquai or Black Square instead.

I know Oblivion ~Rockin' Night Style~ is epic, but what other exclusive songs does it have?

Is everything available from the start, or are there hidden tracks like in DJMP2?
(Some of those are entirely too difficult to access.)

There's Hamsin, SiN - Last Scene, and Sunny Side ~Deepin' Soul Mix~ which are songs exclusive from both DJ Max Portable 2 and Online. The rest of the songs featured in DJ Max Portable 1 are already featured online. Other then that, that's pretty much it.

Around half of the songs need to be unlocked. However, the unlocking system in DJ Max Portable 1 is terrible; for unlocks related to combo, you have to break your combo right after you reach the required amount just to unlock a particular item or song. If you reach a higher combo milestone that unlocks some other reward, you will only earn that reward, but you will not earn the other reward for exceeding the previous combo threshold (if you have not earned it yet.)

Also, the chart patterns are more difficult compared to DJ Max Portable 2, but many of those charts are poorly designed (ex. Eternal Memory's 6-Button hard chart has a long note for the UP key while there are tap notes for the LEFT key.)

There are also caveats for both the international version and the original version. The international version is more censored and edited in terms of both lyrics and graphics (such as the nude scene in NB Rangers). The original version has a problem with loading Artificial Integrity; sometimes it gets stuck loading (but perhaps overclocking your PSP to 266MHz circumvents that problem.

In my opinion, DJ Max Portable 1 is somewhat worth owning, but the only value it has for me is to either use it for DJ Max Portable 2's Link Disc (just to go for 100% completion), or to just play the songs and practice on those difficult charts when I don't bring my laptop with DJ Max simulator around.

EDIT: There is one hidden song which you can play after getting 95% average in arcade mode called CnP (which sucks.)

I haven't played the Online one(which I really should look into), so anything from that would be new to me as well.

Well, in that case, the only feature that will be new to you in DJ Max Portable 1 are just the songs (around 49 of them out of 54) as well as the (horrible) notechart design, that's it.

Portable 1 is definitely worth owning.

You can play Blythe with it's original challenging chart, plus a bunch of online classics.

It is definetly worth owning portable 1 simply because the 6 button tracks are a lot harder than portable 2, so if you want to go onto 6 button on BS without mastering the tracks on 1, you are in for a lot of pain.

Wtf CnP is awesome

I've only played DJMax Online, how are the charts in the portables? Like, are they stupid easy to overcompensate for the controls, stupid hard because they didn't take the controls into account, or actually good?

I would get it. I had a real hard time playing Blythe on the first one than the 2nd and most of the songs are fun to play. It's nice to collect all of them but if you wanna skip out then just stick with clazziquai and black square.

The charts are perfectly fine in IMO.

End of the Moonlight 6B hard is one of the best charts of the series i think.

You mean the MX chart? The hard chart is very easy for me to full-combo with no problem at all.

Oh crap, I misread your post as somehow being a 'difficult' chart :\
