So I was reading GoNintendo... Came across this interview. Talks about DJMAX games coming out on several systems:

As for Technika it’s really hard to port over. The DS can’t do AVI videos, it doesn’t have the multi touch that we need. And a lot of the game would be too fast, the screen is too small to do what we want to do. But, that doesn’t mean we’re not trying.

S: I’ll keep my fingers crossed you work something out. What else are you doing for Nintendo? Wii games or DS?

Let's hope this DJMAX game for the DS game is interesting. Just particularly noting the Technika nod in there.

Can you tell us the genre of these games?



We have one shooter, like a third person shooter. We have a role playing game. We have another music game, another shooter like Strikers 1945, and an action game.



The stores were really receptive of DJ Max Fever so they are all waiting for our next games. We didn’t want to release something that would disappoint the fans. We’re really trying to think carefully and creating our image right now.

While waiting for my turn in Technika, I was giving a DS port some serious thought and this is the best ideas I could come up with given the DS's serious limitations.

• Since Technika arcade's touch screen is split in half and each half has four lanes, I don't think the bottom DS screen can accomodate the same configuration without sacrificing accuracy or gameplay severely. I'm proposing that the top screen of the DS will display the next "preview" half while the DS touch screen will be the "action" half of the game. If it's still hard to see what I mean, imagine that you're playing Technika and the song starts on the top half. The DS touchscreen will start the top half while the bottom half notes are displayed on the non-touch screen as a preview window. Then once the swipe is done, the preview window drops into the action window et cetera until the song finishes.
• A return to simple BGA's akin to DJMP1/2 on PSP along with compressed audio.
• Limited in-game HUD to optimize actual gameplay.

That's all I have so far. Anybody else with ideas please add so this port doesn't become an abortion that harms the Technika name.

Oh and multi-touch can be sorta done with dpad+touchscreen OR buttons+touchscreen depending on the option of Right Handed or Left Handed play.

A question: What happens if two people registered their DJ names as the same name? Does the system crash? Is there any way of differentiating them?

Hopefully there will be an easy way to discern them once Platinum Crew comes out, you can select a different avatar. I severely doubt they would have overlooked something like that, though, so the machines won't crash.

On top of that, I think they'd give priority to names that were registered earlier - like any other registration system. Anyone else who registered would probably be forced to change their name.

our machine at Mesa Golfland keeps going out of order, mostly hard drive crashes, and we really can't play it cause it breaks most of the time
