I played it at AI! It's a freaking sweet game, I can dig it for sure.

Tapping the screen feels nice, you can get into the beat. I question the note timing though... I felt like I had to hit things a little bit late. You have to hit it in the exact middle of the circle when it feels like you should hit it as soon as the line touches the circles. Oh well, cool game, will play more.

That's intended. There's a line in the middle of the circle you're aiming for.

At AI what way was the scroll going? I've seen videos where the scroll goes from left to right on top and on bottom but down at Howies the scroll was going left to right on top and right to left on the bottom.

By default it will scroll like so:

But if you use an Access Card (currently only available with the Technika Soundtrack, iirc) then you have the ability to change it. That's probably what you saw.
