I started playing 7keys a few days ago. I'm still trying to get used to it because I usually play 5keys. Anyway I found the B-type setup to be easier for me: (S, D, F, Spacebar, J, K, L)

I can't suggest any magic way of how to get better besides just practicing. I'm still new to 7keys myself.

ok before you try 7keys, there's some things you have to take in mind:

1. despite being the same game, the timing in 5key and 7key is TOTALLY different. some people might argue about this. but if u observe carefully, its harder to maintain your 80-100%'s in 7key compared to 5key. also, expect more notes in 7key than 5key. the length/size of the 7key skin is also comparably bigger than the 5keys, therefore the high-speed settings might be a little different too. (i usually play 5x for 130bpm or lower, 4.5x for songs between 130 to 150bpm and 4x for anything above that. but in 5key its 3/3.5 for songs below 150 and 2.5 for anything higher.) and high speed really helps in 7key.

2. get used to the 2 extra buttons. it might be a little disorienting especially if you are very used to playing in the 5key servers. my suggestion would be either to practice with fade or fog to improve your timing precision.(try training in the songs space of soul hd and memory of beach hd if you can. if possible, try the sc difficulty in 5key. i find that playing more of that helps with 7key note reading, but maybe its just me) stick to 5 key for a while if you have problems before retrying. and btw, dun you DARE try mx/sc difficulty if u still havent got used to the 7key setting. those songs will rip u apart.

3. be alert! those dj battles/vision/random modifiers help with your note reading. if you find that the notes in 7key too difficult to read, play more of those in the 5key servers or slow down the song.

4. and before each song starts, WATCH the bpm. if the song is a unfamiliar one, set the speed to one notch down from your usual speed. however if u do know the song, go ahead with your settings.

5. if all else fails, practice with o2jam. having played o2jam before, i can say it will help tremendously with 7key playing. the notecharts have much more holds/button mashings that can help with the harder djmax songs and note reading proficiency. but if u do so, use control config b for djmax or something similar to that.

my setting for my 7key: asd space ./right shift (damn usb keyboard onli accepts 7 key presses this way)
hope this helps with your 7key!
