Not illegal, but extraordinarily expensive. I mean, arcades are supposed to be making money out of those, so obviously they're making you pay a little extra. Plus, making a machine is expensive too.
But hey, you probably don't need a lecture about that.
As for the original question, in it's most basic concept, you should be able to take apart EVERYTHING in there, with the right screwdriver and a whole lotta time.
Good luck with putting it back together, though...
