need help tricks with dj max

ok guys maybe this looks like fag question, for all my life i just played dj max only 1 year, and well not so good...

and for the reality i just played Trilogy not anything else (i played online but only for 10 minutes using my friend pc long ago)

then one times i cheated trilogy and ruined the fun i have with the cheat

now i'm reformatting the data again and start from scratch again

so here's my question (since the topic was unclear what i'm asking)

1. The only thing i have problem is to play 7k and 8k on trilogy using keyboard, it just to hard combined all 4 finger to one key (including little finger one make me confuse) so how can you put all your 8 finger to play or easy way to play 7k and 8k

2. 2 months again is my birthday and i got new psp at that time, you guys suggest me to buy P1 and P2 or buy Fever instead? and sure I'm buying Clazziquai and Black Square

3. I seen ppl playing dj max on psp only using thumbs, after trying using my ps2 controller it looks really hard, did it really hard to play with thumbs only or it's more way easier?

4. Is psp ver easier than pc (trilogy) ver?

I'm not too sure if I can answer those without sounding somewhat elitist, so apologies in advance (And also for somewhat opinionated views). D:

1) There's no magic button to press that instantly makes you good at 7/8k. D: Play easy songs. Play more easy songs. Play even more easy songs. Then move on to slightly harder songs, I guess. Unfortunately, Autocorrect really screws up the learning curve here as you don't get immediate negative feedback regarding lane mistakes (And even now from time to time Autocorrect saves me from breaking 100%'s/fever/combo and I end up feeling really, really guilty at the end of the songs)

If you can type on a keyboard with all 10 fingers, there's no reason you can't do 7/8key with practice. Also don't chicken out and use sdf<space>jkl for 7k - It may be 'easier' for a while, but you end up screwing yourself over via habit building.

2) Portable 1 and 2 if you want the most complete songlist available, Fever if you're 'on a budget' or want the new features, and don't mind Autocorrect. Fever is also easier to unlock.

3) Uhh, the charts are designed for two thumbs along with the shoulder buttons for FX modes. You won't find charts that aren't playable with two thumbs, just as you (generally) won't find DDR charts and by extension majority of simfiles that can't be played with two feet. (Lets not even consider fucking stupid shit like SDO/XDO as part of this discussion)

Play with two thumbs. You'll probably enjoy the game that way more vs using multiple fingers, after a while, not to mention that's the only way you'll be able to play FX modes later on. :D

4) Hard to say. On one hand, thumbs are harder than one-finger-per-key, as you've probably concluded. On the other hand, the chart designers do take platform/key setups into account - you won't find for example some of the harder button combinations in Trilogy on the PSP releases because of physical impossibility.

Also, what is the comparison for 'more difficult'? Gold Discs? Passing songs? It's pretty subjective.

as for 3) i have not tried playing DJ Max without at least using my thumbs. on 8B (or 6FX in Black Square), i use the index fingers only on the L & R buttons then thumbs on the remaining buttons

as for 5) i think this is more subjective.
ive only played the DJ Max games on PSP, not Trilogy or other non-PSP DJ Max titles

DMP1, 2 and Fever or are what i consider the "mainstream" DJ MAX games on psp while "Clazziquai" and "Black Square" are the side-releases.

i tend to like DMP2 out of all of them, i think this is the best mainstream title which has almost no bugs compared to Fever, think this better answers 2)

Black Square has a better song list than Clazziquai as a side-release despite pushing your skills a little beyond limits as a hardcore version of the DJ Max games.

Look for DJMP2 not for Fever. Cause you can't solve all missions without cheating, really. Example: You must fulfil Fever 5x(?) in a low-lvl song where you can only get Fever 3x(?) even if you 100% it. It been awhile when I played Fever. My PSP is broken so (DJM's fault O

... I need a new one-.-

It can be easy to start with 5k and 6k to learn 7/8K, because it's not THAT difficult. Its just a question of training and how fast you can recognize the falling middle-notes.

7k ist that:

+1|5K|+1

8K is that:

+1|6k|+1

That diagramm shows that you dont have to learn from the beginning. (like from 4k to 6k), so you have a good base to start with.

I can also just say: Train every day and you'll see that you'll get better!

The sdf<space>jkl syndrome stems from the pioneer games in the genre (O2Jam, DJMAX Online - half of it, anyway) which used that key setup. Quite a number of people buying Trilogy go right into 5k/7k mode and use that same setup regardless of the fact the lanes aren't even the same size/layout nor are the charts designed with that kind of grouping in mind.

Trilogy was designed as a 4/6/8key game primarily with 5k/7k being derivatives, rather than the other way round.

edit: Just to be 100% clear, that means you don't want to use sdf<space>jkl in Trilogy. Ever.

oh yeah, I'm old O2jam player too... but I'm trying actually hardly can't use Fever so I quit using it... it actually more harder to use...

i dont know of any recent patches for fever but the last time i played i experienceed many problems with it that are not in DMP2, as outlined in the first page of this thread:

Link Disc is a feature of DMP2/BS/CE*

if you insert in DMP2 a DMP1 disc, you'll get some new chars and equip while playing DMP1-Songs

if you instert in BS a CE disc, you'll get also new chars, songs(!) and equip while playing CE-Songs. You can also insert DMP1/2 discs to unlock chars, but unfortunatly you can't play songs on them

*=CE lets you only unlock some chars/equip (and songs? I dont know anymore)
