Does the grand dog installer need permissions to write on C: and Windows (if part of it installs here)?
Or you can change it where it installs to a folder with write permissions?
My school's computers have write access to My Documents

As well I did not want to make a completely new thread since I knew there was a thread already available.
Any who.... Ok so... Quote:

You basically need to be able to install the dongle detector to play the game, and if you want to copy track records (not discs - discs are stored on the dongle) you need access to the My Documents subfolder where DJMAX stores all those. Copying them back and forth works perfectly.
You can export the TR registry from your original PC and merge it on the new location just so that the patcher/launcher shows the correct version, although this isn't absolutely necessary, I guess, since it's highly unlikely for patches to come out anymore. TR.exe bypasses the launcher/patcher completely.
edit: I've had a bazillion people ask me what game it is @ internet cafes. :V In some cases people a few computers over started youtubing for DJMAX. | K so falk, did you run Dj max Trilogy directly off your usb? Or did you just export the files from your usb to another computer.
I was going to test this out by trying to install the game directly to my External Hard drive but once I popped in the CD it detected that Trilogy was already installed and it asked if I wish to remove it, once I said no, the setup completely closed.
I know I'll need the Grand dog installer in order to play it, but what I wanna know is did you run this directly off your usb flash drive.
I could always uninstall the game but I don't want to lose any of my data... unless its possible to just transfer all the downloaded files/folders to the External hard drive. I just want to make sure I'm doing everything correct, I don't want to go back and do those missions again ;o;

I play DJ Max Trilogy at my friends house and I just bring my dongle and it works fine.

It work's just fine because he has Dj max trilogy installed on his computer. I'm going to this place where they don't have the game installed at all. That's why i was wondering if I Can just copy my files over to the external hard drive and play directly off my external drive. I will not be able to install the game to their computers.
Btw the dongle does not save the game.....
The dongle just saves your discs/network data not the game itself.

I don't see why it'd be any different if you installed it directly to a USB hard drive, though since essentially the folder contents would be the same anyway. Patching on the other hand, the install writes registry for versioning/directories so you'd have to mess with that to get it right.
If you patched prior to copying onto the USB HDD though (or patched on the USB HDD, whatever) I don't see why it wouldn't work. You basically run TR.exe and bypass the launcher. Unfortunately this also means no Network.

Unfortunately this also means no Network. | Also. If you try using the Panda tool. You won't be able to resize or switch it to Korean/English because the registry isn't installed. Just download an ISO of Dj Max Trilogy, They have torrent out for them. You already have the game so tehcnically it's legal. Or make a ISO backup of the DVD and bring it with you
Extract the files in something like winrar and just stick it on the External.
Of course that means you'd have to install the USB drivers as well as have administrator access but if it's at a cyber cafe they usually do
PS: Just do what .falk said though, I did that when I play at school. It works, but you still have to install the USB drivers none the less.

Like you said, it'll pretty much be the same if I just install it to the drive itself. I don't mind the network since not many are on when I play, I was thinking of just doing like you said, but im still unsure if it'll work. Guess i'll just have to test it out.

But other than that the game ran perfectly. All the songs were there, everything was stored. Although there was some lag choosing the songs but the gameplay was flaw less. It ran perfect.
