The thread for the iFUTURELIST Akira Yamaoka is here (at nilmind's prompting)! (^^)b

Discuss the work he's done for bemani or Silent Hill, both are equally good. (Though I prefer his Silent Hill stuff more) Personally, Yamaoka's songs are a bit hit or miss on whether you like them or not - but that doesn't change the fact that he's a really awesome composer.

He's interesting, but vastly overrated. That said though, 'ライオン好き' and 'DANCER' are pretty cool. Stuff under his '新谷あきら' alias is pretty nifty too. I'm actually pretty burned out on Sana, except when she works with Yamaoka.

It seems to be beginning that way, but this is a more generalized discussion like you'll see in the other artist threads in the media discussion sub-forum. So here's something I've always wondered about; that vocalist ric or riewo...is it confirmed that she's the one singing namelessly in most of his songs? Is there by any chance that she's in the iFUTURELIST credits?

Anyway, my favorite songs by Akira Yamaoka are the ones sung by Sana as well as that vocalist who either is or sounds like ric/riewo. The ones with Ocean (Space Fight, bitmania, 昭和企業戦士荒山課長), not as much. I also liked iFUTURELIST, but it had to grow on me.

Well, it's confirmed at Akira Yamaoka really likes ric/riewo's voice and said once that no-one can sing trance like her. She's only credited for RISLIM on iFUTURELIST though.

popdod, love me do, iFUTURELIST, lion suki and system romance for me. I'm personally surprised at how powerful his voice can be whenever sings in a very, very deep tone, especially in the "political speech" style of iFUTURELIST.

I like how he has a very deep style in his songs (in the sense that it takes a certain level of understanding in order to see why his songs are good). Due to this, his songs tend to warrant several playbacks, before their meanings could be readily understood.

I think his first song contributed to DDR is i feel...(not attracted at first) and when Supernova came out, all of his songs appeared on it.(except for Injection of Love and since everyone's talking about it, i tried to download it. And I prefer hina mix) When I was choosing a song, I passed iFUTURELIST and listened to it. and I said to myself, "Hey! I thought akira was a trance artist! This song is cool!" and that's my orientation for liking Akira Yamaoka...

Yeah, LOVE ME DO sounds like ric/riewo to me. If I'm not mistaken, all the songs she sang that you haven't mentioned are Awakening, Heavenly Sun, in my eyes, i feel..., and she was the female vocalist in システムロマンス. I really love all of the above. And please, more Akira Shintani.

Technically, "Love This Feelin'" is his first DDR contribution that was remixed by U1-ASAMI, which the original song came from GF&DM.

Asami's remix is so different that I don;t know if it counts anymore. I mean, that's be like crediting the traces remix from 9th style as a TaQ contribution.

Ocean? Obviously, it is the same woman who sings all of Yamaoka's songs with female vocals. :P
