To all the music appreciators

From the poll I made here, it seemed that there are a lot more people who fall under the category of "music appreciator" than I expected. This made me wonder, perhaps there may be potential for much more traffic on the "Other Bemani Discussion/Media Discussion" threads. I know I should mention this in the "Feedback" section, but I'd first like to know all your opinions or thoughts about it before following through on that.

It's quite apparent that there isn't as much traffic here than on the other Music Game Discussion threads. It may be possible that more than half the people on bemanistyle don't know that this section even exists. It also doesn't help that the Media Discussion forum is a sub-forum, which people may more likely miss and ignore.

But one thing is for sure. Fan threads in general seem to be very successful. For example, the SLAKE thread, which should technically be in Media Discussion, is doing pretty well especially since it's still in the IIDX forum. Then, the TERRA and BeForU threads have also been doing fine especially when they were still in the DDR forum.

My idea is that there can be a separate forum for Fan Threads. First, it's not as obscure sounding as Media Discussion, so it may catch more eyes (ideally, it may not even have to be a sub-forum, but I guess that's asking for too much right now). It may also open the door to the creation of more fan threads, which will be nice since we all probably know a couple dozen artists who deserve one. Hopefully, this will end up with much more traffic and an active forum.

EDIT: If rmz or CStarFlare are reading this, I want to say that IF this does somehow work out, I would like to plead that the SLAKE thread would stay in the IIDX forum for the time being. I personally am not a SLAKE fanatic, but I think it's for the good of the thread for it to remain there until this idea seems successful. The traffic of TERRA and BeForU, on the other hand, doesn't seem like it can get any worse anyway.

All input, comments, and opinions will be greatly appreciated.

It sounds like a good idea. The BeForU thread has far less traffic since the move to Media Discussion. The SLAKE thread is always near the top five in the IIDX forum.

Haha, so I guess we have the typical crew to agree with me here. It's too bad that I couldn't really find an appropriate forum with high traffic to state this concern. I guess we should still wait to see if more people share this concern (or at least find this) before stating it in "feedback."

But looking ahead a bit, I was tinkering a bit into what other artists could potentially have a successful fan thread. It may be a good idea to start an Artist Fan forum with some substance. Usually, any artist with blogs with periodically updated news should be good contenders (some can be seen here: IIDX Staff Members' official blogs). In addition, any artist who comes out with albums pretty often would work even better. Other than the existing threads or the examples in that link, I'm thinking along the lines of teranoid, maybe Mutzuhiko Izumi, and I'm sure there are many others. Some ideas here would be nice.

That sounds like a good idea - but must the discussion be on people that have regular albums? After all - alot of good material comes from people that don't have albums (Sota, dj Taka), have maybe one (TaQ, SLAKE), haven't had an album in a while (Symphonic Defoggeres) or have albums with a limited knowledge base (Elektel - I'm getting their second album btw...

)

Other than that - it seems to be a good idea.

That sounds like a great idea! Can artists for non-Bemani music/rhythm games be included (especially Kyle Ward (In The Groove), BanYa (Pump It Up), and Beautiful Day (O2Jam))?

Do I believe it should be restricted to them? Oh, heck no. I was just pondering on what threads may be more likely to last longer. For example, I know TERRA is really popular, but maybe since they haven't come out with anything new recently, that thread is pretty much dead right now. Personally, I see absolutely no problem with that by all means. Being that there are forums for ITG and PIU in a site called bemanistyle, it shouldn't be restricted. I doubt that anyone else here would have any quarrel either (maybe except for the very hardcore fanboys). And again, more interesting threads could lead to even more traffic.

That might be overkill, as there aren't too many HUGE platoniX fans out there. As it is, I think the BeForU thread is really fine for discussion of BeForU/Kosumosu/platoniX/Hoshino Kanako/Miyuki Kunitake, as it appears that it's the same handful of people that like them all.

I was thinking a bit about the platoniX thing, and thought it may be remedied by combining it with Tatsh/killer or something (although Junko Hirata should be unique on her own). I do, however, agree that discussing about these artists in the BeForU thread for the time being is quite benign as it exists in perhaps the least moderated area in bemanistyle.
