I have a quick Mutsuhiko question...

Is the Heaven Inside featured on his album the same as the one in GFDM, or is it a different version?

It's slightly different because the HEAVEN INSIDE songs are re-performed. Other than the minor differences, it's pretty much the same.

I just heard Andes no taiyo. It reminds me of TIERRA BUENA.

When I haven't heard that song yet in Pop'n 15, I thought that Andes no Taiyou sound similar to Midnight Sun (since it also refers to the sun).

It refers to the Sun of the Andes, The Long Chains of mountains in South America, called... "Los Andes". It's very similar to TIERRA BUENA because both are typical music from those regions (Andine Folklore Music...), that's why the "genre" in pop'n music is FoRklore...

Mutsuhiko Izumi Rulz! (But TIERRA BUENA Sucks xP!)

Bumping this thread for great justice! The Model series really rock. MODEL DD8 features Marty Friedman of ex-Megadeth. That's why it has a thrash metal influence compared to Mutsuhiko's progressive metal style.

HALF-MOON was the best song in IIDX GOLD. Hands down.

I'd list everything I like from Mr. Izumi, but it would be a long list. I seem to be one of the few people that likes Balalaika, Carried With The Wind.

In my case

Maybe not the best song for me.........but it certainly was a kick ass tune.

The double bass on that song was cool indeed.

--------------

Also,

Well I did like Balalaika..........esp. after I learned how to pass the ext. drum chart years ago.

Very traditional-esque in a sense (and quite relaxing to the ears).

I like Balalaika. Can't wait until it gets revived for a CS GF/DM game.

If I had to list songs I DIDN'T like, it'd have to be mostly Cries In The Wilderness (how the HELL did this make it on Masterpiece Silver?!), Mr. Moon (the JPN version "Angel Magic" was slightly better), & Let Me Believe.

Seriously, Mutsuhiko Izumi is to GF/DM as Naoki is to DDR & DJ Taka/L.E.D/Yoshitaka/other IIDX artists is to beatmania. Anything under the Model series is awesome. & Fairy Tales. & Jet World. & some other songs.

His songs under the ASMAT alias are kinda catchy (I was happy when O Jiya made it on V3, though I want to see it on a DDR. I know it made it on a songpack for the Ultramix series).

Me too.

It was one of the best songs for me on GF6/PF5

I do agree with you that Konami should remove Let Me Believe (in fact Brenda Vaughn songs generally suck), Mr. Moon (since I still prefer Angel Magic which is the long version song I play the most on V4)........

But Cries in the Wilderness?

I don't see anything wrong with it though. Granted, the gap between the advanced and extreme charts is WAAAY too huge. On the bright side, the extreme chart is way fun to watch because of its complexed patterns (most esp. the double-triple bass action combined with alternating hi-hat<->snare techniques) as well as it's a kinda kick-ass tune in its way.

Well I guess to each is his/her own

I only liked ROOPA........since it was a kick-ass tune.

More like an Indian pimp song (probably something that even Sir Daler Mehndi would appreciate).

Didn't like the rest much of the other songs much (O JIYA/YARA TUM KAHAN)

Yup

He produced superb songs for BEMANI

Nothing more to say to that

-------------------------------------
P.S.

I still remember that he flew to Hong Kong to perform (during the Top Ranker 2008 Asian regional qualifiers).

He even did a question and answer session......as well as perform FIRE (long ver.) live on his guitar.

It was pretty kick ass (there's a Youtube video about it).

Too bad I missed it though

Anyone heard Blue Forest yet? I wish I could listen to it, but niconico seems to be down.

EDIT: All I can say is... it's like DAY DREAM and Fairy Tales combined. (referring to the DD and FT series) It has the orchestral stuff and messy DAY DREAM-like guitar patterns, some of it in acoustic guitar. Overall... Awesome.

I like his jubeat stuff. Especially Snow Goose. I haven't heard Blue Forest yet, but people seem to like it.
