While I agree that his non-HH stuff is pretty good, I'm still going to have to go with his HH. Rainbow Rainbow, in the Sky, and starmine (pop'n mixxx) are all SO amazing. ♥

in the Sky? I'll have to politely disagree on that one. That one sounds like he threw it together on a last-minute notice and included it in Happy Sky.

I heard it and it seemed to have nowhere near the depth of his other HH songs. It sounded like he threw Ageha in a Cuisinart and set it to 'puree'. :P

Two pages and nobody has mentioned shining stars from teranoid overground edition - KOJA YUKINO. That's one of my favourite Ryu* tracks ever.

Different strokes for different folks, I suppose. Oh, and I can't believe it either, kanna! I love that song too!

Check post #6 fellas . And for the record, that's my favorite by him too if not limited to Bemani.

YouTube - Ryu☆

Does anybody recognize the song that Ryu's playing in that little clip? It sounds familiar, but I'm not sure what song it is.

correct
nobody has mentioned Mad Material or any of the other Ryu* vs DJ UTO songs in this thread. now that is a problem, although understandable since most of those tracks aren't exactly mainstream.

shining stars (Ryu☆&MC Natsack MIX) is another fun song that's not "mainstream". Still, a large part of my amusement with that song was probably Natsack. Haha.

I love happy hardcore, which made me fall in love with Ryu* music instantly. (Thank you DDR Ultramix 2 for giving me starmine!)

After listening to him for a while, I realized that he had a diverse style. Aurora, in motion, Setsugekka, be quiet, Narcissus at Oasis, Second Heaven, etc. The only song I really never hit off with was be quiet. The song just didn't sound like Ryu* AT ALL and it was more random than most gabba I've heard. However, each to his own. (And for some reason it's still on my iPod. )

Also, I agree with whoever said it: Ryu* remixes kick some serious butt. My personal favorite is Under the Sky (Ryu* Remix). I didn't really like the original.

But can someone explain what the hell HANDZ UP is in Second Heaven? (The lyrics are another mystery)

Self quoting from the teranoid and friends thread.

Second Heaven is apparently intended to be a homage track to people who moved Ryu the most last year and he explains why he called the genre HANDZ UP.

Apparently, it's a genre chiefly produced in Germany. He says that it's Germany's "Buchiage Trance" (Only, different) You're supposed to get a lot of kick from the bass and synthesizers (? Ryu uses "tacksynth" (takkushinse) which I assume to be a type of synthesizer) It's not very complex, musically but the power comes from a... the fact it's a 'sparkling trance'. (Uh, I don't know how else you would translate kirakira toransu) and apparently since the sound is so powerful it's a hit in the US that it got on the Billboard Top 10. (Ryu, what the hell are you talking about? o_o) And apparently that was the genre's first achievement.

I don't know about you, but I've never heard anything about HANDZ UP before.

Has everyone heard Blue Rain yet? To me, it's perhaps one of the best of either TAKA or Ryu*.

kirakira toransu would probably be best translated as uplifting trance.

Edit: At least, that's how I'd translate it

It's more like the genre says more about the song then the actual title of the song itself!

Well, I wouldn't go that far, but it's certainly very good. It definitely doesn't deserve all the crap it's been catching as of late.
