I pick DDR.
They defined the dancing genre, and reguardless of lacking of quality steps and crappy banners, I still find this game the most fun with the optimal difficulty without trying to die.

It's the dancing game I've played the most, and also the dancing game I enjoy the most, too. Pretty easy to find here, also, and I adore the freestyle scene (and I think DDR and ITG totally lose in this last aspect).
Oh, and I also have a incredibly powerful reason, pretty noticeable

Marketplace Rating: 0 | If I want a trip down memory lane, DDR
If I want step-charts than are a test of stamina, ITG.
If I want something generally hard with fun stepcharts, PIU.
So in the end, PIU has my vote.

In addition, I like the balance of the songs and note charts. The steps to the songs are challenging to time without being absurd and unfun to play like ITG's upper-level songs. The timing seems to be harder on DDR than on ITG also.
Not bashing ITG at all. ITG is also fun for making you use your whole body, and on some songs the charts are stupidly fun (ex: R&J Expert, Land of the Rising Sun, Da Roots Expert). Some of the DDR stepcharts, namely the ones with straight stream, can get really repetitive after a while and it's good to see ITG flex some ingenuity into their patterns. The rating system is a refreshing change and plays more like IIDX, in that's it's usually impossible to 4-star songs. As a result, there's something to strive for every time, and I enjoy that. The game really tests your stamina, but as I said before I don't always like having it tested to huge extremes.
I haven't played PIU enough or have easy access to make a fair opinion, but I have no hatred towards it.

LOTRS is probably the most fun chart on all of ITG.
However, I always find that most of their charts are too hard to be fun, hence why I prefer DDR. It, to me, offers more fun.
I've played PIU a couple of times, and so far it seems fun too.

I don't think ITG is as good as DDR. I agree that some of the charts are "too hard to be fun." Not a bad game though.
