I still play FPS's alot like Half-Life, Counter-Strike. Also my favorite RTS that noone likes, Ground Control.

Whoa there, that wasn't my intention. I was just being honest about how I felt about those games, and how they compare to beatmania on a "fun" level. The whole reason I started the thread was to get ideas for games that actually might be able to compete with IIDX for fun factor (hard as this might be to define). I intentionally made sure to reply about those games, not to shoot down those peoples' opinions, but to acknowledge them and respond.

Katamari is probably the closest any game has come, that's a good one. Maybe we're onto a pattern: straightforward, satisfying gameplay + amazing music = heaven.

The only game that can qualify for me being more fun than IIDX would be
Quakeworld Team Fortress.

But since Team Fortress 2 was released last night and I stayed up till like 4am or something and I had the best time in a long ass time.

IIDX owns most of my free time right now. but other games that I would be playing more if I dident import a ps2

Street Fighter 3rd strike
my daughters Disney meteos game (sftu)
classic compliation games (MM collection, capcom collection ect)
RTS games for DS and 360
and I love getting high and playing Viewtiful Joe

IIDX takes up most of my gameplay time. its now the only reason i have a ps2 (and i play a bit of popn too).

i play Day of Defeat with some friends on th net, and a bit of Smash bros in anticipation for Brawl.

IIDX is fun, but so is DoD and SBM. they are all completely different games. i dont think u can compare them on the same 'fun' scale. lets just say each game is fun in its own right.

The thing about IIDX is the stated fact that you will be playing this game (and any bemani game) for years. Ive been playing DDR for about 5, and know people who have been playing way longer.

My life is composed of eating at restaurants, playing Bemani, Playing an RPG or 2, work, and sex. Oh, and that colledge thing.

This game is badass and the best I've ever played in years.
