Right know I can keep up with 450BPM(300 x1.5) fine and a I can say max around 600BPM, but I just play Max.(period) at x2 and could not see the 600BPM part of the arrows.

EDIT: Now that it's moved here, I can read up to 250 in 1.0 Speed in IIDX.

Yeah, once you get into the 1000 BPM zone, it may sound weird but I have to really zone out and just "stare" at the screen and let my fingers do what they feel like doing.

On some marathon songs, about two minutes into it, I totally zoned out.

When I play StepMania on my comp I can read 600 BPM rather easily, even though I can manage 580 (140 x 4) BPM almost perfectly.
However, when I play on a mat and away from the screen, I have problems with reading arrows moving that fast if the screen is small (especially if the screen is actually a laptop), decreasing my readability to 350 BPM. Thus making me fail things like Zodiac Expert that I used to do on 4x at the arcade.
So, screen size may actually be a big factor when adjusting the scrolling speed.
(to Phallen: there's no better surprise that feeling like your fingers are moving on their own AND still doing the correct moves! It happened to me a few times when I tried to type Pandemonium Expert)

ehh... about 400 bpm
higher on songs i play a lot and have a good knowledge of where the arrows are and such.
on the keyboard:
i currently do 950bpm mini with no problems
if i go much higher the arrows start to like break apart because of the speed or whatever does that to them.
and yea i know exactly what you guys mean when you just let your fingers do what they want to and you keep up the combo... it actually feels pretty cool.

And I also find my reaction speed a lot slower when I play DDR with a pad, I guess your brain sends the message faster when going to your fingers as opposed to your legs.

I can barely pass MAX.s 600BPM part at Heavy/Oni.
