Unlike BM, I have been able to play on either side of a DDR machine since I started playing. I just pick the one that looks in better shape.

I play on the P1 side almost all the time, if there crappy dance pads, I go to P2 side.

on IIDX I play on the P1 side. When GOLD was testing I went a few times on the left.

Guitar freaks does not matter.

As much as possible, P1 side, since I'm more used to it. But either side can do well, depending on the machine's condition.
