What songs do you think that a *good* marching band can play?
I think Determinator except for that scale in the middle somewhere. I could play some of it on my clarinet. Possibly Brightness Darkness too.
Thoughts?

Uh.
I donno, the song's BPM would have to be right around the 140 range, 120 is too slow and 160 is too fast. The percussion from something like DXY! would be cool to march to, not so much the rest of the song though. Maybe you should be thinking more Latiny stuff like Game of Exotica (BMSoT) or such.
Macho Gang would only work if there was a giant Hamburger Helper man in the color guard.

Metal Gear theme would work if there's like electric and bass guitars. And maybe any Sota songs.
EDIT: God, I've never thought about a Max song being playable like that. Hmm.

Besides that:
Ska Ska No. 3 (Pop'n 6)
Mikeneko (sp?) Rock (GF 8/DM 7)
Linus (IIDX 6)
Secret Tale (IIDX 7)
Kecak (IIDX RED) - No idea how this would work but damn if it wouldn't be cool.
Bear in mind that I was never in band so I know absolutely nothing about this. The only knowledge I have is watching the band from the stands during my time in high school.

when you march, you usually go at the tempo, too slow is bad, while too fast is just as bad.
hence March Tempo.
of course, this would jsut mean slowingdown/speeding up, any song.
Determinator would sound good, but thats total bitchworktrills on the flutes (and maybe clarinets/altosaxes).
while D-Code would be alot more brass section.
Marching Music is always a hard pic, but for a top band (sym 1 or something), Determinator would be epic.
Mavrik, can you link me to what youve done so far? im interested in playing D-code in band as well, and im sure i could try helping.

Yeah, that's what I meant...for marching band. My mind was elsewhere.
But that ridiculous scale in Determinator, if it had drill of ANY sort, would have to be standstill or else, it's not going to work. It would be hell for any reed instrument actually.
If I gave some music to my HS band right now, they'd pull it off. (OT) We're among the top marching bands in Alabama, and even symphonic band so... (/OT)
I take it back, if it were 2 years ago.
D-Code would work and that would be a brass feature.
Woodwinds...uh, is there even a song that they can possibly play? Maybe Apocalypse ~dirge of swans~?

Woodwinds...uh, is there even a song that they can possibly play? | D-Code has a pretty big section of Alto sax, and Tenor sax can double low brass parts (like they usually are forced to in marching band ). As far as upper winds, you can double second trumpet parts on flute and clarinet.
And to DeeDeeArr ~ALLSTARS, my comuter had to be reformatted, and I lost my saved progress so far, so I'm kinda stuck with nothing again . If you find a D-Code MIDI, things would be really easy, but otherwise, I have to start again, and I doubt I'll have much time this month. If I get anything going again, I'll let you know.

does anyone know what note D-code starts in (and key, possibly)? id be more than happy to help find it out, and write music to it, given the programs and whatnot.
