what kind of music gamer are you?

I can think of 4 main categories that people fall under. Keep in mind that I don't think that anyone strictly falls in one category. Just choose the one that applies to you most. There are probably more categories I'm not thinking of though.

competitive - My prediction is that this may get the most votes of all. The natural tendency is to score high and achieve perfection on these types of games.

expressionist - This probably applies most to the dancing games, where one gets to freestyle and define his or her individuality. It probably applies more to DDR than ITG as ITG is much more technical. I'd also like to know if there are people who ever enjoys making remixes on IIDX. EDIT: I guess I should expand on this definition. This should apply to people who mainly want to stand out by being unique, and do something no one has done before.

social - This is for people who just play to have fun; usually in more social situations. I know that there are those who have fun because of the competition, but this doesn't apply to them. This is for those who are not hard on themselves for not getting a AAA or 100%.

music appreciator - Few would argue against the fact that these games have a rich variety of mostly really good music. People may play to hear the songs. One may start to get hooked on a particular artist or group, and listen to their music in their freetime. They don't have to play the games to enjoy them as they can simply listen to an OST. I'm starting to believe that I fall most into this category.
EDIT: To add on to the music appreciator category, I must bring up this scenario since my definition may have been too loose. Whenever you would talk about these games with others, what would you enjoy talking about the majority of the time?

1. gameplay
2. accomplishments
3. the music and artists

If you chose #3, I believe that should qualify you as a true music appreciator in my book.

Music appreciator. I play music games to get different feels of different kinds of music, and I enjoy nearly every kind of music and music gaming.

I play the games in a competitive way, but i appreciate the music in the games too, often a lot of my favorite songs fall under a single artist whose music instrests me.

Music Appericiator big time. As I am also a pianist and music composer, I really tend to appreciate well-made music than actually playing it.

I would think most people would be a mix of all four categories, but would have a leaning towards one og the four categories mentioned.

As for me, I would lean towards competetive gamer, though I also have an appreciation for music in most music games.

I am definitely competitive (though not an expert), but I also love the games for the music. I play piano and percussion, so that musical background probably helps me appreciate the music more. Heck, I'm listening to "Exotica" (by Kyle Ward) right now! I also am social, and enjoy playing DDR/ITG/StepMania with other people. I am probably 50% competitive, 40% Music Appreciator, and 10% Social.

Mostly social because i love to play for fun i dont care what i get.

Sometimes im competitive because i wanna try to get a score on a certain song when im in the mood. Sometimes i get and when i dont i go back to social and try again later.

I am a mix between social and competitive.

At times I just want to jam out to cool stuff like Don't Forget and HORIZON

Other times I want to beat my old scores, I just hate it when I am thisssss close to the next letter grade up. Having VJarmy around also helps the competitiveness of the game as well

Where is the option for people that have no friends and no job and no real hobbies that spend most of their time in the basement crying who use music games as a temporary escape from how much they hate life and how much pain they are in?
