"Back to the Past" MN DDR Extreme Tournament & Fun Weekend!

Hey guys!

Talked to the arcade today after school and they said they would be all FOR it! The date for the tournament I told them is July 26th. That means that people should be here in Minnesota by July 25th and expect to be here til the 27th if you can! Unfortunately we're not going to get the party room because it would cost us about $100.00 each person rofl. It'll be in the area where it is now BUT the machine will be turned up and the machines around it will be turned down. I may ask them to move the one or two games that are around it since they are pretty close, but I'm not sure if they'll do it. BUT REMEMBER: This weekend is more about hanging out, meeting people and having a shit ton of fun. Therefore the tournament shouldn't matter to you as much as just meeting up with new and old friends and hanging out with them all!

The fee will be $12-$15, i still have to work out and explain how event mode works to them rofl.

I'm gonna call this tournament "Back to the Past" since Extreme is somewhat of an old, but extremely good DDR mix and it was the first machine i played on so it's pretty awesome for me. It will be held at Grand Slam in Burnsville, Minnesota

Standards are pretty basic:

Heavy and Oni ONLY! (But you can pick the same song if it has a heavy and oni chart but can only pick each chart once)

Straight PA - most perfects wins. Pad shit (which hopefully won't happen) will be recalculated to perfects. And if both players have same amount of perfects, it comes down to greats, then goods, etc...

Double elimination and EVERYONE is welcome to join in! (I'm really hoping for a lot and possibly if you guys can make it happen (pun?), a 64 man bracket. That would seriously make my life if you guys came all the way out here, you have NO idea lol. So invite all your friends!)

Will be rainbow seeded, so don't bomb your qualifier on purpose!

Best 2/3 songs wins the match

None of the 10 footers are allowed until the semi-finals

Qualifier will be some random 8 footer chosen by me the day of the tournament

Whoever has the higher seed in each match will either pick side and second song or first song. (I'll make sure both sides are in top condition so it really won't matter what side but whatevs)

As I said, this tournament will be fun. I really don't want and i hope to not expect any drama. I want to make this tournament/weekend as fun as possible for you guys and myself as well.

Unfortunately I live in an apartment with my mummy since i'm still in school so I can only house like 2 people IF I HAVE TO. Please try and find a hotel near the area. I hope that doesn't have a factor in you guys coming because it's 3 months away, you can save up like $50+ for hotels hopefully . What we'll probably end up doing is putting like 10 people in a room at a nice, but somewhat cheap hotel without them knowing how many people lol (That will make room rates for everyone MUCH cheaper)

The nearest hotel to the place is the Burnsville Fanta Suite Hotel located literally like 5 steps away from the arcade

The Mall of America is just about 10 miles away if anyone wants to go shopping. (Myself and hopefully a few others around here and people who drive here will give rides wherever) and the casino is about 20 minutes the other way. Otherwise there's our old mall which is like 3 miles south. Along with a TON of food places around too!

If anyone arrives by plane, let me know and I will do my best to arrage rides since the airport is right next to the mall of america. You might have to take the light rail to the MOA but it's only like a dollar to do that and will save ME and whoever else a LOT of gas if we only have to drive to the mall because airports are gHey! lol

The weather is always amazing in Minnesota in the summer time (sometimes a little hot but who gives a crap?). So don't expect to freeze your butt off in July, bring proper attire rofl.

omfg it sounds like alot of fun. i wish i could go but i dont really want to be there for more than 2 days. and i was just wondering is the mall of americas ddr machine stil a 3rd mix? because that was the last time i was there.

it's not. the whole park got a whole new contract and is now nickelodeon themed and the arcades are owned by namco. so they got all new games and renamed shit :/

saying that you're not going because they got rid of 3rd mix is really pathetic TBH. unless you just don't want to go to the mall, and in that case it's understandable. the mall of america is nothing but a big mall compiled of stores that you can easily find in the cities around it. it's nothing special, just big.

yah but im also out of state too. so i dont go there to really play ddr and shop. but it was a nice incentive. i mean as much as i love having a bowling alley hooters and lego land all in the same building its stil too far away for a "casual drive". maybe like a weekend thing but thats it.

back to the tournament. like i said its too far for me to go but it sounds like ALOT of fun. besides im really pinching pennys for acen and iidx 14 so im not sure if i'll have enough money for it even though its in july.
