Soooooo I'm thinking about holding HJ5 in Oshkosh, Wisconsin again this year as we have a lot of interest for it. The tentative dates are June 7th-10th, the Thursday being just a freebee game day just for fun. It's mainly a Super Smash Bros. tournament (thats regional, going national this year
) but I want to improve on the open gaming stuff. As in, I'd like to bring more arcade machines this year - the only things I know offhand we could get are DDR Solo 4th, DDR Extreme, PPP 2nd Mix, BM CM2, BM The Final, PIU Exceed 2, but I'd like to rent a Pop'n or IIDX machine from Illinois if I can get in touch with the owners. I'm trying to bring the Bemani community together as there's not much going on for us. I can try to put together an IIDX or DDR tournament with cash prizes IF there is enough interest!!
First prize for the SSBM Melee tournament in singles is $1000 + a pot bonus, depending on how many entrants we get. Teams will receive cash prizes as well, depending on the number of entrants. HJ4 had about 120 entrants. We handed out over $2500 in cash prizes for HJ4, as well as 2 prereleased Wiis, Bawls merchandise, and a Nintendo DS. HJ4 also raffled away some of these prizes -- all you had to do was show up to be put into the raffle. We may do this again.
There will be some food and lodging like we did for 4.... and the price will be super cheap. As in, probably $35-45 for everything. I want to know if anyone here would be interested in going, or if you have any feed back.
